i would probably start off with a Quick ball.

If failed, start paralyze/sleep followed by a DoT move (if available) and keep throwing ultra balls at it while it kills itself with recoil damage.

Quick Ball seems wisest, but Shinies are just one of those things that you can't control. If you get it, great, if not, oh well.

Yes you can. :p

You can learn how to mess around with the RNG to get good Pokémons, including, shinies. It's not an hack, and the Pokémons you get are legit because they are part of the code in the game.

You can find pretty good tuturials about the RNG abuse on Smogon.

(smogon seems to be down so i can't provide you a link form there, but search for "Pokémon RNG Abuse" and you surely find something. I don't know much about that, but it seem easiest to do on Pokémon Emerald)

Around the Network

I've only ever encountered a shiny once and it was a koffing. It self-destructed. T_T

Might be nice to do, as Shiny anything can be bartered for some of the event Pokemon or legendaries from the other games.

It's still impossible to get Groudon, Deoxys, Kyougre, or Rayquaza without having R/S/E, huh?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

While breeding for a good Deino. I caught this.

Basculin (Blue)
Bashful
Male (♂) Adaptability
HP: 29
Att: 30
Def: 4
SpA: 31
SpD: 14
Speed: 29

It'll make a great water STAB HM mule! Should I give it ice beam or rain dance for 4th move?

Going to EV train it with Speed/SpA.

I would 1st use a quick ball

if that doesn't work i'd either paralyze it or put it to sleep, maybe even freeze it
