As for the Obama being a muslim thing...  I wouldn't say racism.

I would say, people wanting to see what they want to see.

Like how people on the far left want to see Obama as a closet atheist.

Truth is Obama uses more Christianity terms and general Christian speaking then... any president in recent memory.

He's about as religious a president as you are going to get.

Although to some people Obama IS a muslim.  Though amusingly the people that should be true to are some sects of muslims to which it's genetic a lot like Judsiasm.  Not random christians.

speaking of Anti-Intellectualism... *rolls eyes*

"with great power, comes great responsibility."

There is intellectualism and there is "intellectualism" ...

While there is a disturbing habit for politics to devolve into simple catch phrases and tabloid news in the western world, more often than not when people refer to "anti-intellectualism" they’re really upset that people reject propaganda that is being pushed by academics in fields that could best be described as institutionalized political activism.

Have you considered that some people just don't want to hear the truth? Or companies are hating they have to make changes that improve quality and efficiency at a high cost? I mean its cheap to do nothing and use the same methods over and over again without changing, which is why other countries have evolved in technology and health beyond what they once had.

Environmentalism isn't all propaganda and shit. Just like every group there are extremists, but their views should not be taken as what the majority says. A lot of studies are done. People push for policies that make companies reduce their pollution. I myself sign many petitions that have been successful in stopping drilling in wildlife preserves, construction of new coal plants, deforestation, protection for animals around the world, as well as many political stances.

Most of the propaganda are from idiots like Rush Limbaugh who just today stated the best way to solve all issues in the USA is to ignore them. That's right, ignore all issues as if they don't exist and continue doing things the way they were before all the "environmental garbage and deficit fear-mongering." That is what one of the most listened to mans on US radio stated. Sadly he is not alone, and the democrats have similar stances. And in the end they cause ignorance towards real facts about how things are, and what is better for humanity as a whole.

I don’t think you understood what I meant by institutionalized political activism ...

While I could go into depth on the general concept I think an example will demonstrate the point with less effort. On most University campuses you will find a Woman Studies department which is full of academics who use biased and manipulated statistics to publish articles to support a very hard-left political agenda that has very little to do with what the vast majority of individuals would call feminism; and the only reason these papers are published is because the journals they’re submitted to only care that the conclusions support their ideology not the questionable methods that are used to support these conclusions.

It is not uncommon in these political fields to see published papers supported by statistics generated from a survey of less than 50 non-random participants where a significant number of the results are arbitrarily eliminated to get the results the researcher was looking for. I recall taking a Sociology course in University where the professor handed out a paper on street youth that talked about the plague of alcoholism among these children’s parents because 50% of the survey participants reported that their parents were heavy drinkers; while the conclusion might make some sense, the survey was of 10 children at one shelter on one night and no conclusion was supported with how poor the confidence interval was.

Personally, I would say both beliefs come from the same basic root ...

Obama has made some statements in the past which seem to be at odds with how most people see typical Christian beliefs; and this leads people to think that he is masking his true beliefs behind a Christian Facade for political reasons. This (of course) doesn't mean that either group is correct, and it could be that he has inconsistent beliefs or has simply made awkward statements that were taken out of context.
