Finally, some sanity.

It seems the major problem with the collection is the new content, not FFIV.
1UP: "The problem with this collection isn't that it lacks anything new, but rather that the new content feels like a pale imitation of the masterpiece it follows."
How much is it?
I have the original PS1 rerelease somewhere but never got round to actually playing it for more then 30 minutes. I just can't get into the older FF games because of the graphics, FF6 was fine mind you.
Maybe I will try it again. Have the disc so unless this version has something significantly better done to it, I'll stick with that.
Hmm, pie.

The PS1 version is the worst one.
Because you own it already, I'd recommend getting a rom of it. The GBA version.
Not that the PS1 wouldn't provide a good experience, though. Just not an optimized one.

I have it too.
Play it on your PS2 and just set your console to fast read PS1 discs. But eh, it indeed is the weakest among the... holy crap, five :P
GamePro - 3.0/5.0
PROS: The original is still great; solid pyrotechnics; best way to play The After Years.
CONS: The new "Interlude" is exceptionally brief; the sprite art isn't always that great.

For the life of me I cannot understand why a game like this, comprising of a classic, it's sequel, and a whole new game, all tidied up for cheap and with awesome graphics would get lower scores than the original on its own. this game has everything the original had (which is a bonafide classic), improved, and more content, and yet it's getting mostly mediocre reviews. What's up with that?
