Forums - Gaming - IGN Nintendo Set to Reveal New Console

An article on IGN states

According to multiple reports today, Nintendo will reveal a new console at E3 this coming June.

Could be a rumour but I doubt a big site like IGN would post this without reliable sources.

Around the Network

Nintendo wants to be there to end all console history when the world ends.

Think for yourself, question authority

I have no doubt it's true.

I've been expecting it for a while now and it would explain so much as to why the Wii is receiving so little support lately.

Very exciting!

I just don't see any appeal to it. The HD is old, the console would be expensive, and third parties wouldn't join up because its a new userbase unlike the other HD systems. Plus it would cost more to develop for. Therefore it would have no games, unless Nintendo wants to ignore the 3DS....Not a good postition at all. Well, if you don't like making money lol

If this turns out true, I'll be there Day 1! Late 2012 without question!

Like you were with the Wii?

Also, I don't see it happening, but I said this in the other thread

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

if its true, then maybe a super mario galaxy 3 could be the key launch title to get its selling power through the roof.

i would buy the system on launch day if that was nintendo's key launch game.  :)

I wasn't aware you knew my life history.

I've been stalking you for long enough. I should know everything by now!

If this is true i hope MS doesn't try to hurry up there next console just to compete with the wii 2. I think the ps3 and 360 will outsell the wii 2.

The Wii-R is coming..  (it's time to get in) Virtuel Reality motion way ( cheap, small and precice ) Mario will never be the same.:)

Radiant: what are you talking about...?  is it not ok, that nintendo make a new consol...? and do you think that nintendo has to make all the "nintendo" titles by them self...  look at kong and metroid..

And if there are any problem, don't you think the worlds biggest and best selling videogame company, can hyre more people if they need that.. And as i whote before.. hd will not be the only thing,, nintendo had told us that many times..

And last.... They don't follow the others way.. the make the way..

Below is a list that Zarx compiled from Wikipedia of Nintendo's First and Second party studios.  How many new Wii games are scheduled from these companies?  I think it's safe to say there's a good chance that Wii's successor could have a plentiful game selection without ignoring the 3DS.  And if they handle it right and the power is comparable to what the article suggests, third parties will likely flock to it.

First-party studios

EAD Comprehensive Group – Steel Diver, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 64 DS,

EAD Group 1 – Mario Kart series, Nintendogs series, Luigi's Mansion,[35]

EAD Group 3 – The Legend of Zelda series

EAD Group 4 – Pikmin series, New Super Mario Bros. series, Big Brain Academy,

EAD Group 5 – Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus
