What do you mean by relevant? Selling as much as the Wii or selling like their competitors? Im asking because the hardware (system) did great for the Wii.

But i doubt i will get it Day 1
Nintendo, you've kind of been that friend that use to be totally my BFF five years ago but now I never really talk to anymore but if destroy friend codes and give me achievements I'll totally be your buddy again. It will be like those last few yeras never happened.

I mean mainstream relevance.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Higher quality graphics (seems pretty much a for sure thing) A MUCH improved controller, the Wii's controller layout is honestly pretty poor in terms of the button setup Vastly improved online setup (and the death of friend codes) a steadier stream of game releases, this gen Nintendo would push a bunch of high quality games at once, and then have virtually nothing for months at a time. and A huge improvement with 3rd party support. If those things aren't addressed I don't see Nintendo being the market leader next generation. |
Well, I'm optimistic. Let's go over all these points:
1. Higher quality graphics - a certainty, Iwata and others said it will support HD, though HD won't be its main point.
2. A much improved controller - well, look at many of Nintendo's games lately - they support the Classic Controller Pro. This seems an indication to me that they realize the WIimote format as it currently is isn't viable for more than a few people, for many types of games.
3. Vastly improved online setup - just look at the 3DS and tell me that this is not going to happen...
4. A steadier stream of game releases - well they did say they learned their lesson and are applying it now with the 3DS - many games have been completed but they are not releasing them so as to create a steady stream.
5. 3rd party support - well they got better support for the 3Ds than the DS had, the same should happen with the new console. And let's see Epic wrangle their way out of not creating a game for this console after their latest excuse, if it is either on par or more powerful than the PS360...
Of course all these do not guarantee success, and franky I doubt they will be able to do a Wii again, but as long as they sell well who cares (except maybe extreme fans).

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I'll lol hard if Nintendo put out a console capable of 1080p on every game, kinda like some promised they would at E3's gone by only to ultimately fail to deliver.
So they'd be taking the idea and improving it. Kinda like Sony did with Move.

Right, that's why I'm still scared. The 3DS is in fact better but it still has friend codes. The fact that they're still sticking to that ridiculously archaic and stupid system really worries me.
Am I the only one who doesn't want this rumor to be true?

This is one of the dumbest statements I've ever seen on these forums, and that's saying a lot.
You're implying one of two things, and each one is as stupid as the other:
1) Sony invented 1080p gaming and anyone else that tries it is simply copying them or improving on the PS3.
2) Since Nintendo can do something with 4-5 year newer technology that Sony could not that somehow makes them better.
Anyone who has been on this site a while can tell you I'm not the biggest Sony fan but come on, there's no point to that post at all and only makes you look silly.
