Well that's a shame, it looks like it's about the bare minimum effort for something a lot of people have been screaming for.

Woke up and tried it--a little late, I guess since Twesterm has already posted an impression.

It worked like a charm....but it still required the controller.  I had to use the controller to select Netflix.  After the install (about 40 something MB), I tried a movie.  It only let me choose from the recommended features (about 8 or so movies. Maybe a few more).  Whenever I tried to "browse everything", it reverted back to controller mode.  I eventually watched a couple of minuted of "Dumb and Dumber".  Voice commands worked great.  Hand controls, too.  With the wave of a hand, I was fast forwarding, rewinding, and pausing.

Thing is, I don't tend to do that much when I'm watching Netflix.  I just play a movie and it plays to completion.  A nice bit of tech but not necessarily something essential.  I'm going to impress some family members with it, later in the week, though.  I just wish it worked 100% with everything.

lol Xbox Pause/Play is awsome...

Just got Done watching Toy Story 3 and wife was like "pause it" so I said "Xbox Pause" and she got up and walked out of the room, then came back with a puzzled look on her face and said "did that just pause by you saying pause"... I said "Yep"

I think those "features" are what made kinect a system seller for many and it is crucial for MS to make them work as quickly as possible. You do not even need a game to sell kinect, "Xbox on" is largley sufficient.

I messed with the it a little and I was happy and disappionted at the same time. It was nice using the voice commands to say, "Xbox pause" or "Xbox play", but I was pretty disappointed that you could only navigate through a few movies in the suggestion area. I was really hoping it would allow me to navigate through the endless amount of movies using kinect, but you need to use a regular controller for that, which sorta elimates the point of using kinect.

When you do use kinect, it works great, but the whole experience wasn't nearly as robust as it should be. Hopefully a update soon will fix that. I do look forward to using the voice commands because it will save me time from normally having to turn my controller back on and pausing it that way.        

I still think this is just a taste, them saying look what we can do, i was talking to xbox support a while ago and they said that dvd support is prob gonna be coming as well. I think they are trying to iron out the creases tbh.
