So Nintendo rather sell units by cutting price than putting compelling software.

I feel as though Nintendo is setting up for an abrupt descent.

To be fair, The  Wii has become more of Holiday console the last couple years, the other 9 months are just gravy.

And there will less software on Wii 2 than Wii.

It'll be like the PS3 launch only worse.

Yes, the possibility of that happening is very high. Nintendo must make the right moves with Wii 2 or else...

Someone piss in your Wheaties recently?

Nintendo, I suppose.  They forgot how to sell a console/handheld and they're basically denying me my favorite fixes.

I never buy consoles at launch. It helps deal with complacency once you are done with the measly ~7-8 launch titles.

The Wii is actually fortunate; the last time software support was this good for Nintendo was the late 80s/VERY early 90s. If you think this drought is bad, look at the N64 era; only 250 games released in 6 years; Wii's got 4.5 times that.

Please, do NOT let the industry jargon and INCESSANT 3DS doom cloud your proper Smoked judgment. Nintendo cannot release their entire IP catalog within a year of launch.

Besides, what are the odds on investors/stockholders/developers ignoring Nintendo AGAIN after they produced a console just coming off ~100 million in sales? With how expensive development is, they need to support all platforms.

Nintendo could easily support a new console launch for holiday 2012, third party support is essential this time around though.

They will get it. 3rd party support was Nintendo's biggest debacle of the entire generation. Plus, their strategy going forward is to create and attain "must-haves".

If not, at least they will have Sega and High Voltage on their side haha.

Flash forward a few weeks to a rumour of a $50 price cut for the PS3 or 360

Flash forward a few weeks further to where Tres is offered coffee by a friend

"Coffee? Sounds good, Finally Wii time is ending, let them unveil Wii2 soon" - Tres

You have predicted doom for the Wii for as long as I can remember, you will continue to predict doom for the Wii for as long as it takes until its sales finally do die down, and then you will claim that you have been right the whole time.

Tres is the Wii's biggest fan and its most diabolically harshest critic. He only hates Nintendo because he loves them dearly.

The Wii had limitless potential that was unfortunately decimated 2 years into its lifespan by laziness and User-Generated content (Animal Crossing& Wii Music). If those two stinkers were replaced with NSMB, the entire course of this generation would have changed, SERIOUSLY. All we could do was sit and watch as Nintendo got dicked for the 3rd gen in a row, even when it seemed they did almost everything right - userbase size, price, and dev cost.

A little overreacting there wouldn't you say..

Of course there will be more games. It's just their 3DS focus right now has dried up the releases for Wii this year, which is compounded by the lack of third party support.

I doubt Nintendo would simply cut the price and leave it at that without new games. At least wait until E3 to curse Nintendo. If E3 passes with no new compelling games, I'll be with you then.
