Forums - Nintendo - (rumor) NIntendo's next console ... codename Butterfly???

Mmmhh things are starting to heat for the next E3.

"At GDC, we heard reference to Nintendo's "Project Butterfly", the intended succesor to the Wii. No specs were given, though the hardware is designed to be physically upgraded over time. As it was explained to us, by plugging in new parts it 'becomes' a new machine. It will be marketed as the antidote to Apple's yearly redesigns. One machine, for life."

Fragmented userbase. Absurd.

Yeah, extremely. We've seen this in the eighties, why would anyone expect it to start working now?

I doubt this is true.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

This has happened before, it never worked out. Nintendo are most likely smarter than the companies of the past, but it's not likey they haven't tried and failed with the Expansion Pack and the Nintendo 64DD. It's a great idea, but the market rarely ever wants their current products expanded, they'd rather buy a new model every few years instead, mainly because they don't care about the long term ramifications of their purchases.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

...Wait, in the source article they speak about declaration that Cammie Dunaway did this year in february ? She leaved Nintendo on October 2010!

Seems fake for me.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

so if this rumor is real how would you upgrade the console to those that arnt that sophicated in stuff like that lol i know im one of them lol

You guys realize this is from the same company who refuses to make alternate specs of their base console so that there is no confusion among the consumers?

There's no way this is happening. It's either a stupid joke or an April Fools joke that was picked up a week too late.

But its the 12th of April, not 01/04
