Forums - Microsoft - Good arguments in favor of the 360 over PS3?

From your reasoning behind wanting a 360, it really doesn't seem like getting one will be a worthwhile purchase for you. But I'm not you, so maybe I'm wrong. I would never personally even consider buying a console just bc of it's downloadable network games, let alone for multiplat games I can already play on my current system. I like my ps3 bc of the exclusives it offers. 360 intrigues me bc of the Gears series, but that's not enough for me to warrant a purchase.

On a different note:  If you decided not to buy a 360 before bc of the amount of ps3 exclusives, then this year is a crazy/bad year to get one lol. There are so many ps3 exclusives releasing this year it blows my mind. ps3's apparently set to break a record this year for # of exclusives released in a single year. And not even mentioning all the multiplats releasing as well. If you hate Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, Motorstorm: Apocalypse, Socom 4, inFAMOUS 2 (om gosh), Resistance 3 (om gosh), Twisted Metal (just confirmed 10/4/11 release), Uncharted 3 (om gosh again), and (potentially) The Last Guardian; as well as Batman: AC and all the other multiplat games, then I guess go for the 360. But otherwise, imo, I'd wait till next year. Although, like I said, it doesn't seem like from what you mentioned there's all that much the 360 has to offer you, so idk if it'll be a worthwhile purchase for you even next year. Up to you in the end though.

Nah, you beeter like shooters if you own a 360. Arcade has many good games, but not enough to jusstify a system unless you have some purchasing itch you can't fill fill any other way.

Lost odyssey.

And this is a very good reason!  :D

Geniune request or not this will just end up being flamebait. You would think this would actually be a good place to debate the merits of one versus the other but you would be wrong. For every valid reason you get 20 that are just plane bollocks good luck.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

Going by your post I'd wait for a price cut first.  It seems there would be some titles on 360 that would suit you however perhaps not enough to justify the price as it currently stands.

I feel sure the 360 will get at least a small price cut later in the year, and of course the older games you'd probably be interested in keep dropping in price too.  I suspect if you wait a bit you'll be able to get more for your money and buy at a price that's right for your interest level.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

wait like me till a price cut

No.

I don't think there is enough games that would warrant your purchase (Either today currently or into the future). I don't want to generalize the 360 as a shooter box, but let's face it.  The most popular games on the system, the most active online portions for games, etc is primarily shooter-centric.

I just don't see many games that are worth your time, money, effort.  People are suggesting games like Halo Wars, Banjo Kazooie, etc.....  While these aren't 'bad' games I certainly wouldn't quantify any of them as games worth buying a 360 for.    Many of the XBLA games are usually available on PC as well and a good portion of the non-shooter quality 360 games are Multi-Platform.  Wasting money on a console for minor variances in Multi-platform titles is also equally foolish, IMO.

I honestly believe a Wii would provide you a more diverse,  varied experience more compatible with your tastes and what you're looking for.  Save your money and gobble up all the great PS3 exclusives releasing this year,  and make a decision by the end of the year (After price-cuts and E3).

i own both hd consoles. I got the 360 first. Honestly, I haven't played my ps3 in months. Most of the exclusives are extremly overrated for both consoles imo, they are flaunted as being great simply because they are exclusives. 75% of the genuinely great games are multiplatform. I don't play my xbox 360 too much either because I got a nice gaming pc, but it does get some playtime every few days. Just keep the ps3 and spend the money you saved on some games or something else as the systems are basically the same.

You will miss out on around 2 or 3 exclusives you would probably have loved and a few you would have thought are ok, not worth the console cost considering once you beat them you will never touch the system again. At least that was my experience with the ps3 and I assume if I had gotten a ps3 first I would have had the same experience with the 360 since the majority of games I play are multiplatform and I just prefer to get them on the same console. If you own a gaming PC and own a ps3 do NOT get a 360. It will just be a huge waste of money unless you end up really likeing gears or halo.

Mass Effect 1 is probably the best reason for a 360 if you haven't/don't want to play it on PC. IMO its better than 2 as its more rpg.... also Lost Odyssey and ToV are great. Wierdly the only game I can get the mrs to play is DOA4 ( I think she secretly likes all the jigglyness). I own both consoles and PS3 is my console of choice for most games as I prefer the dualshock but those 360 games I mentioned are pure class and I would hate to have missed out on them.

I'm in the same position as you, but i have only the Xbox 360. And i am really interested in some PS3 games, like Atelier Totori (some say its much better than Atelier Rorona), Atelier Meruru, Tales of Xilia, Final Fantasy Versus (if it stay exclusive), but i'm not very secure with the idea of spending another 300eish euros on a new system, that play almost the same games as the one i already have.

So, my answer to you is, probably not. Stay with the one you have, unless you're unsatisfied with it.

But maybe its worthwhile to try games like, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia and Magna Carta 2 if your thing is jrpgs. And like others have said, if you like arcade games, go for it.
