Frankly, I doubt even EA thinks Battlefield 3 will outsell Call of Duty.  But that still doesn't mean they shouldn't hype this game.  Battlefield has always been a successful and popular series.  Heck, I consider it the most fun FPS I've played.  And I think they'll be fine hyping it.  If it just improves sales for the series overall, their marketing won't be wasted.

They know they don't have a realistic chance of beating COD this year, what they're trying to do is establish themselve as the credible alternative and eat into Activision's share of the PIE. The goal isn't to win, the goal is to remain relevant and competitive.

Sarcasm? Black Ops has like twice the sales of BFBC2 and Uncharted 2 but does that mean it has more quality?

Who cares?  I will buy BF3 and I do not care about better sales than COD.  I like going into fine cuisine restaurant and I don't care if McDonald's sell more burgers than everyone...

It means it's fun for many people. When it comes to videogames, that in itself is quality.

 I'm not an FPS fan, but people like to hate on COD too much.

you do know that people who play cod buy only one game a year, and thats cod.

you cant say thats its fun for more people if they dont play other games.

the hate on cod is minimal. for what activision does we should make a bonefire and burn copies of black ops.


Yeah, I am one of those people who buys cod every single year even when I say Im not going to. I just can't stand too see this game gget all f these sales.
