Last month saw Wii undertracked by a ton, so are the rest of the home consoles, so it will be interesting what the numbers will spell

its already "quiet"... globally. The YOY hardware sales are terrible. I'd describe it as "depressing" soon rather than just quiet. |
It'll be quiet when Socom 4 releases as well. There may be a tiny surge for inFamous, but nothing big like GT5 or FF XIII.

As I said over a 1/2 dozen times now. The Wii and XBox 360 don't do much in the summer, because more casual gamers are attached to these systems then the PS3. Casual shoppers do not purchase as much gamers/hardware during the summer as hardcore gamers do. Now when Oct - Dec rolls around , and the casual shoppers appear, that when the XBox 360 & Wii come out to party. It has happened like this over the last 4 years and the trend isn't going to change, except when a price cut happens in the summer. XBox 360 had an even bigger surge last year due to Kinect (a casual add-on device). PS3 always closes the gap in the summer though. Then in the winter the Wii and 360 explode and surge ahead by another million or so. This year a lot will depend on the price cuts and who announces theirs first. Remember when the PS3 Slim got released with a lower price it dominated the holidays mostly, except for the Wii. This year all 3 systems are suppose to get price cuts, so we'll see what happens.

True but you never know, there may have been incredible demand for two consequtive months, I wouldn't put it past them but still nevertheless, I see the angle from which you're coming from.

NPD must have adjutsed wii stealthily because they msut have undertracked it sometime last year, this time they could adjust them down so Vgchartz could be about 200,000 over.

This reviewed badly so not to surprising to see low sales, but also it launched day and date on the PSN store, so we will probably never no its real sales, which is going to get more common over the next few years with digigtal distribution especially with the launch of the NGP.
Ive said it before and as much as i love VGChartz, it desperatley needs to find a way to track digital sales of software if it ever hopes to stay relevant, NPD have realised this and they are attempting it, but that will only be for the US.

That was the kinect effect, and there were new games out for it. But now, where are the games? So i does make sense. MS is losing big on this one by having a really low ammount of exclusives. Imagine if the ps3 had no games in 2009, the gap would be at 6 million right now lol. Like i said, it was kinect that carried the 360 all of winter, but now that kinect has a very low amount of games it is bound to die down. (which is happening now). |
Even if it did have games, it wouldn't be doing much. These coming months are the slow times for game sales. M$ is know for releasing most of their exclusive during the 2nd half of the year anyways. MOVE sales are no better then Kinects right now as well. There's really nothing for either platform. MOVE Heroes and it hasn't even broke 20K in 2 weeks. So having exclusives don't necessarily mean stronger hardware sales or software sales.

Thank goodness it is. I want kinect to die faster than it made a million sales (which was REAALLY fast unfortunatly). Controllerless gaming is my worst enemy (next the BEAST in inFAMOUS) |
Dude, don't hold your breath. KINECT isn't going anywhere. The games are coming, I can promise you that. It was the fastest selling console add-on in gaming history. This baby will accompany the next XBox 720 (or whatever it's called). Infamous 2 should do well. The first game sold almost 2 million copies. I was surprised that Prototype actually sold over 2 million on XBox 360/PS3. Impressive. Anyway, Kinect isn't going to die. Just watch the E3 this year and you'll see what I mean.
