Do the sales of Motorstorm : Apocalypse account for the whole EMEAA ?

I think it would have been difficult to track since its been in out in many countries for awhile. Its been out in Scandinavia since March 16 and France and Italy i think.

3ds is not very inspiring.

Really, really poor hardware numbers elsewhere...

YOY:

Wii: DOWN 57%  (wow)

PS3: DOWN 32%

360: DOWN 26%

PS2: DOWN 64%

DS: DOWN 67%

PSP: DOWN 65%

and software? - DOWN 24%

AWFUL!

All systems already saturated current price points and people are waiting for price drops. If all three price drop by at least 50 euro we will be looking at YoY increases very fast.

Perhaps... but for how long?  A price drop isnt going to double Wii sales to take them to last years numbers for any sustained period.  No chance.

At best price cuts will help match last years numbers for perhaps the PS3, the rest are looking at being down this year in EMEAA.

The gen is shrinking, dont care what people say about magical price points.

After 5 years youd expect any Gen to be in decline in terms of year on year hardware sales, but it will decline over a couple of years happily while software makers happily ride out the huge install base, i think software is down just like all industrys are down with the world wide money problems, just today Portugal are now asking to be bailed out by the EU financially.

Also until PS3 has its price reduced to 199 or less in $, £ and Euros i dont think weve seen its peak year. Magical price points for luxury items do exist.

$199 is $259 in todays money

I dont think it is, i know with inflation magic price points should follow suit, but i really dont think they do, the point of a magic price is that mentally it doesnt seem like a big number and a price starting with a 1 is a massive part of that. Its also the price point where you start to get a decent amount of impulse purchases, which certainly over 250 i certainly dont think youll get.

Mario Kart Wii is very close to falling out of the top 40 now. As far as I know, it's been in the top 40 for 156 weeks straight, and this week is its worst week yet. As it is right now, it's selling pretty much exactly as much as GT5 in EMEAA.

Next week, we might see Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort being the only game charting that's been out for more than a year.

I believe it's also the first time that neither of the two Mario DS evergreens (NSMB DS and Mario Kart DS) chart.

In fact, I believe this is the first week since New Super Mario Bros. DS launched that there's only been 1 Mario game in the top 40. Next week, there might be none.

Motostorm Apocalypse sales are quite disappointing, but I know I didn't buy it since there are simply too many other games to buy, but I'll buy it once it hits £20, hopefully others will do the same, I can't wait to try 4 player races :D

PS3 sales are great, but yoy comparisons for all systemsare dreadful :/

3DS launch numbers aren't as good as imagined after adjustments

Hoped for better 3DS numbers, but I'm happy B/W is still number 1

Well it is...  inflation from 2010 in the US to now is 30% plus.

You are referring to the PS2.  The price drop of the PS2 happened after 2 years, the timing and price point are massively important.  The PS3 is now closer to 5 years.

Go here for some further reading.

Interesting thread good points in it especially about the timing, but i still dont think you can apply inflation to the magic price point argument, the magic price is a mental frame of mind and cant easily be upped with inflation, its the thought that something is less than or more than a certain hundred or thousand. Its the point at which you say go on then, or weather you stand and think too long about the price and what else you could do with the money. Now that price is going to be different for differnt people depending on there income, but the significance of that first digit being a 2 and not a 1 will be a mental barrier for alot of consumers.

I can't believe how badly Move Heroes did... I never expected it to do well, but this is flop of the decade material.

wowser... didnt see that.  Whats the next MOVE specific title that is due?

Other than PSN titles, maybe Sorcery? I've not been keeping track though.

I forgot that Move Heroes never actually charted so to save people having to search for the info it did 13k in the opening week WW and 2K in its second week in EMEAA.
