Forums - Gaming - Just ordered Gears of War Triple pack. How is the single player?

If you're jumping into them with high expectations, you may be let down.

Regardless, they are arguably some of the best shooters ever made and I loved them. Its not often I play through a game multiple times.

As mentioned before, they are a blast in split screen.

Thanks for the replies.  I see that a lot of you enjoyed the games and thought they were pretty good.
I am looking forward to playing them for the first time.

Yes, and please keep in mind what the other guys have already said, you will enjoy it the most in co-op.

Don't like it at first? Get your friend to play with you. It should get you both hooked to it for quite a while.

That's right, just one "d"

In b4 "it's addict"

Add me:

The first one is "ok" but the second one is amazing.

Well, I finally received the triple pack and started right away with the first one.
So far, I think the campaing is pretty intense.  The graphics are great.  I must get used to moving that huge character around.  The cover system is good, but not perfect.  The story seems pretty basic, but the gameplay is fun.

you've got it nailed on the head, graphics are good (but dark), but the gameplay is great and is why its reviewed so well

story is terrible :P but it gets you places

Couldn't get into Gears 2 for some reason, but I loved Gears 1.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Oh just wait, the second one will blow you away.  Both are fantastic games and Gears is easily one of the 5 best new IP's this generation.  Amazing games.

I never played GOW or GOW2.  I really don't know what to expect.  I read comments, reviews and watched videos, but it's not like playing it for the first time.  I was wondering what you guys tought of the single player campaigns.  I am hoping for EPIC!

I am now finishing Crysis 2 and I can see myself replaying it a couple of times (but I'll wait for the grain fix patch before).  The SP was so fun and it had memorable moments in it.  Sure hope Gears of War will be as good (even if it's now a FPS).

Since when was Gears a FPS?

You'll most likely either like it or love it. I think it has the best covering mechanics of all time...that's one of the main reasons I think everyone loves it. The covering mechanism is King in the 3rd person genre.... if not then one of the best. The story I thought good... and the 2nd game's story was slightly better overall... the MP is best on the 2nd one. That is all.

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.
