dont need next gen dev kits. They could easily release UE4 now, and port an enhanced version later like they did with UE2.5 and UE-2 Xbox Enhance edition.

with the current version being scalable from iPhone to top end PC hardware I don't think there is a real need. The engine already supports the latest rendering tricks and an improved tool set, so they will probably just use that untill they know final hardware and can rework their engine and tailor it to the next gen.

Point, but we are all forgetting one thing, Direct X 12.

yea but that will launch with win 8 which probably wont be released untill 2013 at this rate, I mean they havn't even shown the new UI yet and all we know is it runs on ARm and will have better multitouch support. It could be another Vista/DX10 lol...

I doubt Windows 8 will have a new UI. I mean there has already been a leaked beta/late alpha version. All I understand is there will be more ribbons instead of menu bars (which sucks), an app store, and DX12. Those are about the major selling points I can find online currently.

So bascially worthless, worthless, and basically worthless since it might not be backported to W7.

they always use old UI when showing off their next OS the first vista shots had XP UI etc it's practically a tradition, but it will probably be a vista to 7 jump or it will have 2 distinct UI one being for tablets/multitouch most likely

Doubt it, Vista/7/8 are apart of the same family like 96/98/2000/ME/XP. UI will probably see a minor change like Vista to 7 was. And there are already multitouch support in W7. It works well. No point in having a completely different UI for it, even for tablets.

take of it what you will, I mean it's just a rumor but it makes sense especially with the tablet market growing as it is and the fact that MS have said they don't plan to use phone 7 for tablets.

A new rumor suggests that Microsoft is planning to show off a Windows 8 tablet UI by the end of the company's fiscal year. Microsoft's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, meaning that we may see the demos in question sometime in the next three months. The tidbit comes from "a source at Microsoft" quoted by Business Insider: This person claims that Microsoft is taking a more Apple-like approach to interface design this time around, and will also be using concepts from the "Metro" interface developed for Windows Phone 7. Ironically, that interface grew out of the Media Center UI that shipped with Windows XP back in 2004, but the Media Center interface was meant to be viewed from up to 10 feet away and controlled with a remote control, whereas Metro is meant to be used with touch screens.

A rumor from just earlier this year suggested that Microsoft has already compiled Windows 8 Milestone 2. This would suggest that Microsoft might want to show off Windows 8 Milestone 3, which would be still very early in the development cycle.

Another rumor also from two months ago suggested that Windows 8 will include a new tile-based user interface, codenamed Mosh, as well as a new app model, codenamed Jupiter, that will target a new Windows Marketplace app store. Let's add more rumor tidbits from three months ago: the OS will have two user interfaces, a new fast hibernation system, and will intelligently manage an SSD.

there is also a couple pics that were "leaked" a few days ago, but they are probably fake/new version of the phone 7 and browser. But if they are real and win 7 is in the hands of hardware/developer partners win 8 could be out by the end of next year. They did say they wanted to go back to the old sycle of a new OS every ~3 years

that is because the rumor states there are 2 seperate UIs one that you posted and the other is for tablets/multitouch and looks significantly different...

eehhhh, Crytek's new engine looked insanely good in their tech demo too, but Crysis 2 itself had plenty of tech issues. The vid is pretty to look at but i'll wait till a game using the new Unreal engine is actually released.

The first part does look good though - that city has an amazing atmosphere.
