Forums - Sony - Uncharted 3 Comparison: Visual Evolution of Character Models

As you can see here, Nathan’s model has grown older with each game and he looks much more mature in Uncharted 3. As you can see for yourself, the increase in detail is simply stunning.

Sully’s model during the course of the three games have improved a lot, visually.

looks fantastic!

dayum, Nathan looks so much older =o

Yeah seriously, nathan looks 40 now. And sully just looks real.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Graphically the improvements on the character models are stunning, thats one area where Uncharted is almost unmatched (except for God of War 3)

Though personally from an art point of view I like the look of Uncharted 2's Drake more than Uncharted 3's.  He just looks a little more badass and tough around the edges while the Uncharted 3 model looks softer.  Its just personal preference though really.

But that's actually not how Nathan looks in Uncharted 2. That's a strange picture.

Yeah I know what you mean but he looks closer to that model than the Uncharted 3 model.  The uncharted 3 model just looks a little too soft and different for me I've thought that since the beginning.  I also don't really understand why they keep pushing him older looking.  He's supposed to be around his mid to low 30s right?  So why in Uncharted 3 does he look 40 plus?

Very cool. Kind of depressing seeing him age right before our eyes. I think ND is setting up to kill off our hero.

The hair on both characters now actually looks real. Especially Sully's hair, look at the massive difference from 2 to 3. There's also a lot more detail on the skin- around the neck area, cheeks and forehead.

If Uncharted 3 is as much of an overall improvement visually over Uncharted 2 as U2 was over the first, I'll be truly amazed.

Uncharted 2 still boasts the best console graphics to date IMO, and that's saying something as there's a lot of great looking games out there.  God of War 3, for example, has excellent character models and detail, but overall it's just not as much of a treat for your eyes to watch the game in motion as you play.  When you consider how smooth it runs, texture detail, animation; I think Uncharted 2 is still king.
