It shall all pass and we will forget about it in 5 years or less.

I'm both pissed but yet curious to see what happens next, but I do want Sony to come out on top

in my opinion Anon needs to stop, their so called "fighting for users right" have nothing to do with me or the majority of the PS3 userbase(imo) I have never tampered with my PS3(other than cleaning it) or have a need to use homebrew or linux(which seems what this and the geohots case somewhat began with) and since when did homebrew/runing linux become such a big thing on the PS3? I always hear people claiming how PC's are "so superior" to consoles, i'm no tech-guy but why not just run it on their?

Anon has a right to their opinion on Sony's action against Geohot, but they're going about it the wrong way, if they feel like they're being poorly mistreated by Sony, why not do what Geohot is doing and fight them in court, raise funds for Geohot. all they're doing is pissing off Sony and their customers( though I'll be hella surprised if a couple of hackers can bring a multi-billion dollar corporation to it's knees)

Personally I don't feel Sony had any right whatsoever to attack Geohot, at all.  And I am VERY against piracy but the fact reamins Geo didn't commit piracy, he never broke the law.

But what Anon is doing by threatening the PSN and going after high ranking Sony officials families and such is beyond rediculous.

no he just published the tools to commit piracy and ruin the experience of real gamers looking to enjoy our games.

Sony had every right to take Geo to court.  The problem here is not the lawsuit itself, it is the fact that the court ruled in Sony's favor (when really they should have thrown it out to begin with).

The question i'm asking myself is "what does sony get if they win?", I mean wouldn't have been easier to hire him an put him on the security team?

They will end up with information they should not have: The IP addresses of everyone who watched the videos, the financial records of everyone who donated to Geo...etc.

You know, there has to be more to this entire endeavor.  Sony has to be looking for something in particular in all of this personal info.

Let me be clear tho.  I believe Sony had every right to seek legal action in every aspect possible.  Does that mean they should win every suit they bring forward? No.

I agree, I won't be surprised if they drop the suit without giving a clear reason.

I do not think Sony will do anything with this information.  I mean what can they do with it?  Take all, say, 20 thousand people who watched it to court?  Take all thousand that donated money to court?  No, those will definitely be thrown out.

Will they waste resources trying to correlate the data gained with PSN information?  Maybe, but to what end?

I think most sony fans are in support of Sony taking legal action agaisnt gehot (aka the harbinger of piracy), and are additionally agaisnt the actions of 'anonymous'...

I don't think anonyomous will have much of an impact on Sony's operations. However, their actions will irk a lot of bystanders. IMO they are just making people resent them, and most importantly, their actions are self-defeating.

Though, I am finding anonymous' delusional self-righteousness hilarous and can't wait to see their actions blow up in their face.

How do you feel about all this crap going on?  Lawsuit with Geo, the attacks on the website and now talk of attacking the psn.

It has become clear to me that this isn't about rights. I also think that MS and Ninty are eagerly awaiting the outcome of this case because if sony wins expect them to follow the path...IMO of course.

I don't think Microsoft will follow in the same path as Sony because they told Geohot to "open up Windows Phone 7 and unleash it to the max". I don't see the sense in giving Geohot a Windows Phone 7, and tellinghim to hack it and then all of a sudden turn your back on him.

Nintendo on the other hand, they will defend themselves against piracy, so I think they will eventually follow suit.

That was a phone though, if they didn't care they wouldn't be banning people. Besides hacking a phone is legal now so they really didn't do anything special by teling him to do it.

I'm at that red level.

all they want is to tie as much evidence as possible to california so they can try him there. and they only got IP adresses, no names no otherinformations about the people who used them. all they are intersted are the general locations of access, not individuals. and even the use of that information has been severely restricted by the court.

And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I'm at red level too, maybe a little under red

I broadly support the right of a person to do whatever the hell they like with their own possessions. I don't support any law which seeks to make it a crime for someone to modify what they own, provided they don't use what they own for actual criminal purposes. I may never seek to put homebrew on my PS3, but I support and defend the right for others to put homebrew on thier PS3's. I don't at all support the piracy of proprietary software, even though I think proprietary software is the root problem here, not piracy.

But when Anon start attacking and threatening Sony staff, and worse the families of the staff then that's not cool, and I distance myself from their actions.
