Forums - Sony - Anon attacking Sony employees and their children?

No i'm not accusing they from lying,  I said a lawyer can bring anything to court and try to prove the validity of what he is saying.

Because if proven wrong = lying, them in any case there would always be one lier.

If Sony's lawyers bring something as a defense when they know it's wrong that lying. they are the ones that brought it into court as a defense for Sony's removal of OtherOS.

Provide false information is crime (and lying of course), two lawyers with the same document and interpreting in a way that proves his point almost never would be considered lying - and the judge is there to rule it, if they lie Sony may lose the suit, lawyers can be disboarded and maybe even jailed.

So let's wait for the final of it to say who is wrong.

And Anonymous is doing illegal stuff but as some think it's just for the lulz and freedom them it's alright.

EDIT: And about the links, you can say something in one situation and have to change because of situation, or it sounded as a Promise to you??? "We will never remove Other OS no matter what"?

The thing is it was less then a month before they did a complete 180. Geohot didn't make any progress or anything in that time period.

If you say something then immediately back out of it, what would call it?

Would call lying, but wouldn't be pleased also... even so 2 wrongs don't make it right.

And i'm not sure but how long after GeoHotz bragg Sony said they would keep support? Maybe at the time they tough what GH accomplished wasn't harmfull but them after seeing better they saw the potential threat and backtracked.

did you actually read what it says in the link?

It's SOMEONE ELSE CLAIMING that Sony removed the feature for other reasons then security concerns.

it's not Sony saying they did.

Pfft. Reading is overrated >:p

My bad xD I thought it was the lawyers that were saying it.

Still it makes much more sense than it being a security thing...

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I wonder who this "sony" guy is you are talking about, but he didn't seem to have said anything, just Geoff Levand, a PS3 Linux-maintainer said so and it seems without knowing what people who actually decide these things would do not so much later.

Personalizing companies seems ridiculous to me.

read my edit...

Read... And to put the both as computers and say they should be threated equally isn't something the hacker or sony decides, law threatment is something courts decide, and this is what Sony and GeoHotz are there for. So if the court says PS3 and any console can be hacked them it's legal, if they say otherwise it's illegal.

Try to disrupt a legal case with threatening as Anonymous is doing is illegal, so they still wrong.

illegal or not it will still happen, and ill still support it.

i see... Sony doing the legal way is evil and you are pissed at them... Anon doing illegal are good and you support, at least you are thinking for yourself.

Not really, I'm thinking that no one has the right to tell you what you can do with something you own. And no one has a right to tell you what you can and cannot read. Hence why I have the wikileak's hourglass in my avatar.

edit: no one meaning government or corporation, not an individual citizen.

So you are also favorable that the IPs and personal info of people that acessed GeoHotz site, donated or saw his youtube to be released publicly right?

And it isn't about your right to read anything, is about your responsability for saying, you still have them even though Anon don't believe so and everything even if sony got bankruput as long as they get lolz.

Its lulz not lolz.

The list of names and organizations that donated, sure, I see no issue in that. But IP address and addresses should be private unless the individual user allowed it to be publically displayed. Individual privacy and freedom of information are two different things. Also, those who views his youtube and site which should stay private for the most part (release usernames I guess if you must release a public document), as long as the information is properly handled privately within a secure environmental it wont affect anyone. Still since Sony cannot sue someone for looking at a video or visiting a website I see no reason for them to get this information.

Still, my right to tell someone how to jailbreak their console from Sony's firmware should not be illegal as its Sony's responsibilty to secure their network from jailbroken consoles. It is not anyone's fault but Sony's if they suck at doing so.

no Sony are trying to block the ability to modify your own console and share how to do it. it has nothing to do with connection to the PSN at all.

They aren't trying to block the ability to do it, just to share how to do it.

even so, information should be free to be distributed.

Thats the biggest piece of BS i have read in this thread. I don't have anything else to say to you.

You are free to spread information, but you are also responsible by what you say and distribute, and Sony is showing this to GeoHotz... Don't try to act as citizen that think you have just rights and no obligations.

THIS! Geohot opened the way for people to play pirate games on the console. So he's responsible for Sony and their partners losing lots of cash. At the moment it hasn't really hurt the industry or the console, but look what happened to the PSP. It could happen to any console. So I do support Homebrew like jailbreaking my iPod, but I don't download stuff that would normally cost me money if I downloaded it on the Appstore. What I think hackers should do is make sure their applications/software can only be used for Homebrew and not for playing illegal games.

You do know GeoHotz is the one who jailbroke the iPhone/iPod right?

And yes, certain things belong private, but your using the internet where anything and everything can be leaked to the public even using privacy filters. But we are also in the middle of a cyber war, and in war there is all rules placed are basically works fiction.

Judicial courts have ruled in the suit Apple against GeoHotz & the jailbreaking that jailbreaking is 100% legal and the information can be distributed. A console is the exact same thing as a cell phone, a computer. A CFW = Jailbreak software. So based off the legalization of jailbreaking software and its distribution, a PS3 which is also a computer should basically be granted the same judgment since there is zero difference in base function between a cell phone, a game console, a hand held game console, or a PC, or a Mac.

Also, that Geohotz DID make it so it only did homebrew.

People just hacked his custom firmware to allow piracy.

As for the "going after peoples children" thing... that seems to be based off of one post, that was probably a joke.

Sloppy reporting at it's best.

If true, they would most likely do a similar dox as the blizzard forums users did on the one guy defended that whole "lets use our real names" thing they were going to mandate.

For all that do not know, about what happened, basically one of the admins put his real name to prove how effective it was and how secure you would be, so a user on the blizzard forums looked up all his info. Afterward, the blizzard guy got a call on his cell phone from said user. The user proceeded to talk about the guys daughter in elementary school, his wife's career, and many other subjects. At the end on of the convo the forum user asked, "So you think using real names is a great idea?" and obviously the answer was no since the plan was dropped almost immediately.

Still, it was just one comment, and if Anon doesn't agree with that as a collective it wont happen. Which Anon won't stoop that low as to use children.

Well if Howard Stringer has kids i'd think they'd be in college anyway i'd think

He's like 70.

So i mean... somebody think of the (middle aged) children!

When can a corporation tell you what you can do with the stuff you buy?

Whenever the purchase is linked up to a network and can cause damage to it and its consumers =]
Atleast thats what i believe.

but the corporation can lock you out of their network. That is not the issue at all, and everyone who mods their consoles accepts that outcome.

Thats exactly what Sony has been doing.....

what kind of information?

how about your name, adress, IP, PIN and social security number, your credit card details, the same information about your relatives...

don't tell me you wouldn't want to protect your own assets from the public to be used as they see fit.

Information regarding how to hack the PS3 should be able to be distributed, but anyone who has an hacked PS3 should not be able to connect to PSN.... this is just stupid, its like MS saying "ok you got an hacked 360, no xbox live for you and we're shutting your system down....Corporations > all"

why?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
