No, you're alone on that one mate. Congratz!

kowenicki said: sorry.. what point do they have? Can anyone come up with a way of calculating "active userbase"...come on... I'll take anything... just for the lols. |
LOL "active userbase" is the point... how can you say it is bullshit? nobody can... it's like said VGC is BS too.
And you said before that 360 broke/died could be replaced... yeah I agree but I know many gamers that not use the warranty for replace your 360... just bought another.
The first reports of RROD is like 30% of 360 sold... so how many used the offical warranty? I don't know... you don't know... possible they don't know too... but they have a estimation... you, me and other no.
I can't say that is bullshit without reading their full report.

ioi didn't say " well done Sony.... does that incredibly expensive victory have an echo?", that's the bitter sounding part, dude.
OT: numbers are obviously a bunch of crap since they can't possibly track active userbase. Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone got confused on my stance on the matter.
...
| kowenicki said: Yes.. actually I can say bullshit. There is simply no metric whatsoever from which they can arrive at "active userbase". None. |
I don't know about that. Take WW sales from VGChartz or use shipment data; add a couple of D6's and a fanboy modifier, and violà! There you have it!

Now I don't believe in this article.
I don't think the PS3 has a higher active base than 360 right now either.
But I do think that the no. of 360's that are inactive are higher simply because of so many console bannings, weren't there 1 million console bans at a given time? And many people definitely buy a new one when their console gets a banned, even if they do have a solution otherwise.

Well, why don't you pay the $7000 for the report and get back to us. After that I have a bridge in New York I can sell you for a bargain.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
| ioi said: How exactly do they propose to have measured or estimated "active userbase"? |
I would imagine it may not be too far off in method to how you guys calculated Move userbase. Or even how you calculate weekly numbers. Does it mean that both of you are spot on? Of course not. But that's just the end result of whatever method they used.
@ those saying ALMOST ALL 360s are still in use
Let's not forget that MS denied the RROD for ~ 1 1/2 years before they extended the warranty. And the warranty was only good for 3 years after purchase. What about those who had their systems die early and just chucked the old one and bought a new one? Or those that got RROD after the 3 years were up? Or some who felt it was easier to just buy a new Slim?
Point is, the early 360 models were one of the most faulty pieces of tech in recent history, if not of all time, with most estimates for failure rate being at least 30%.
