My Mum was fascinated when I took a 3d photo of our cat and showed it to her. She reacted similarly to the ads

Haha, when I showed my 3DS and the AR games to my little 15-year old brother, I should've filmed him. He could be in one of those Nintendo commerials, he was that amazed.

People should record first time viewer reactions.
The first time I saw the 3D illusion it was definitely one of amazement accompanied by a "whoa, cool!" type of smile.
It actually reminded me quite a bit of the 3D effect Konami put into Metal Gear Acid 2 on the PSP. Same principle only they had to divide the screen into two separate video fields which required a cardboard box with lenses in it to allow the viewer to see them as a single stereoscopic sequence. Anyone who played that game will know exactly how MGS3 on the 3DS will look.
I got that reaction from two people at my school. They were really excited to play face raiders and the ar games.
My friends neice who was 8 also was super excited over the Ar games. So much so that I couldn't get it away from her for over an hour. The mario ar card was what really sold it with her
I know. It's surprising, isn't it? Seeing really is believing.
"Wow, it actually works!"
"My gosh, that's 3D!?"
I've been hearing that sort of stuff all week.
This, I think, is more of a problem for Nintendo, though. People aren't gonna believe people in advertisements - they have to see it themselves - and you don't look at demos unless you're interested, which is too huge a requirement from the average customer. That's where Nintendo's StreetPass strategy comes in, though, I'd suspect. If 3DS owners carry 3DSs around, they're very likely to show them to their friends, exposing them to the 3D awesomeness and throwing them into the "interested audience" pool.

Yep, played it myself at my local walmart yesterday. Was in line to others who had never seen it either and all were literally wow'd once they got the 3D set right for them.
It had Pilotwings playing and was really amazing. Played for about 15mins and no issues. Really awesome.
I didn't know the AR games were THAT fun. It's an incredible piece of hardware, believe me. And the resolution of the images in 3D shock. It's actually really good.

Another factor is they released it in march. This seems wierd but its the best statergy to sell a device of this nature.
Word of mouth takes awhile to spread, and to Launch at Christmas time, it wont have enough time .
