I've been hearing that sort of stuff all week.

This, I think, is more of a problem for Nintendo, though. People aren't gonna believe people in advertisements - they have to see it themselves - and you don't look at demos unless you're interested, which is too huge a requirement from the average customer. That's where Nintendo's StreetPass strategy comes in, though, I'd suspect. If 3DS owners carry 3DSs around, they're very likely to show them to their friends, exposing them to the 3D awesomeness and throwing them into the "interested audience" pool.
