Forums - Nintendo - Thought the 3DS 1st impressions were exaggerated?

They wern't.

I know, I'm shocked, too. But when I showed my friends at school, they reacted EXACTLY like they did on Nintendo's promo. I've never seen them so excited for a video game system, let alone a Nintendo one.

Has anyone else showed it to others? What ddid they think?

The system itself is very nice and deserves praise but the 3D is nothing to get excited about (for me at least).

Yeah I got the same reaction when I showed it to non-gamers. They were most impressed by Street Fighter, 3D Photos and AR games.  I was also quite suprised when I saw that the 3DS can actually do pop out effects.

Wagram, true, I have a 3D projector and it doesnt really compare. Though, glass less is pretty neat. Personally, im impress that the sweet spot is actually pretty large. What im dissapointed about is the focus Nintendo place on family and kids. I find the presentation and Mii atrocious. I also find some first impression exagerate, the novelty (for some) is 3D, beside that, 1 analog is better then none but 2 is a most. What we need is a combination of the 3DS and NGP : ). While im critical, I find that Nintendo are doing things well for the mass market. 3DS should be really succesful.

I work with a bunch of washed out rockers and musicians who have no interest in this sorta thing but.......

I keep having to get my 3DS back from them because they are running around the store playing Face Raiders. And today they were all passing it around watching the OKGO video and showing it to customers. That Nintendo is going places I tell ya!

No. I do not think the 3DS 1st impressions were exaggerated.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Honestly I only got to show it to one friend and my dad. Both were impressed but neither of them were extatic. My dad said it was cool that you didn't need glasses but he prefers the glasses 3D saying its better. My other friend was already buying one and said he love FaceSmash and the AR Games but again he wasn't overly excited.

I myself expected this from Nintendo and as such I wasn't as blown away. I mean if I saw it at E3 for the first time like the press did , it would have blown my socks off. But since I already knew what to expect it wasn't as exciting!
