It will probably get 4-5 million sales total.
Honeslty I think it's going to get buried under the rug.
Put some marketing behind it and I think it will surprise people with how well it does.

Not trying to diss Bethesda but they did publish Rogue Warrior, One of the worst shooters to ever grace this gen. Ot: It obviously won't do COD numbers but it'll do very well on consoles and It'll have an amazing modding community on PC. |

all I have heard about mosd and Rage is that the megatextures are to time and proccessor intensive for most people to make, tho they have said in the past that if there is a way of supporting mods in the game they will try it but there probably won't be a SDK and even small levels with megatextures would take a very long time to make...

| CGI-Quality said: It may be big just based on the devs potency in the industry. However, it may also take the CoD crowd to come over in spades to make it cross 10 million. We'll see what happens in the next few months with hype/marketing. For what it's worth, Rage is my most anticipated multiplatform game and I'll have the Official Thread up sometime next week (thanks dunno). |
D'you think the CoD audience will be in to the more fantastical rage? I suppose the Black Ops zombie mode might have prepared the groundwork, but it seems like a different sort of FPS sub-genre that is possibly only going to appeal to a small % of the CoD crowd,

Absolutely. Remember how Call of Duty went from a 4-5 million (CoD1&2) franchise to a 14 million franchise (MW) in just one season. The only thing that will reduce BF3 sales from the 15 million level is that a few million prefer the superior PC version. |
Well, yes, but CoD didn't have any direct competition there was no contemporary FPS around to split the market, and MW seemed to have hit a huge untapped market. Before MW FPS was either world war 2 related, or sci-fi/futuristic. I don't see the pretenders (MoH reboot / Battlefield) getting that huge untapped market boost that MW enjoyed. I guess we'll see. Certainly looks like BF3 should expand on BF:BC2 given how much 2 expanded on 1, and that it's generally a highly regarded series by those who play a lot of FPS.
