We really need to talk more about animal rights. This is unworthy of humanity.

It's always women's rights, the environmrnt, global warming, racism, abuse of workers, gay rights. Meanwhile the amount of animal suffering is magnitudes higher and not talked about.

Plus we need to target people who openly defend abuse towards animals just as hard as we target racists, sexists and homophobes.

It's getting there. I get a lot of commercials from the ASPCA showing various victimized animals. Very touching commercials, too, and we see this sort of thing voiced on talk shows more

I think it really depends on the level of "abuse" honestly.  I mean, stuff like pets and zoo's people don't care about, but I mean... compare people still being mad at Michael Vick for what he did to dogs....

to Kobe Bryant getting away with raping someone and everyone already being back on his side.

Or other sports figures basically getting away with murder.

I agree, buy a Sony or Toshiba, but why the hell did they do this? I can;t see anything logical about this as they just wiped out a shit ton of food! They probably caused a food shortage!

nvm: researched a bit. "hoof and mouth disease" is the reason. Which is completely treatable/preventable in all curved hoof animals. Its also not contagious to humans. SK is spending more money burying the pigs alive than it would be to treat them, but they refuse to allow them to receive the vaccinations that would cost $63~ million dollars versus the currently estimated $230~ million dollars they are wasting doing this. Basically SK's government is retarded and enjoy wasting perfectly good food and money, while having zero common sense.

A mass cull is the only way to deal with an outbreak of foot and mouth. Britain did basically the same thing a few years ago. It's highly contagious and can completely decimate the nations agriculture industry.

Vaccination is not only difficult because there are several strains of foot and mouth but also because vaccinating the animals severely reduces the access to export markets (many of which will only buy animals if they are foot and mouth free and not vaccinated against foot and mouth).

Before you guys go apeshit on SK for this, in 2001 Britain culled 7 million sheep to stop the spread of foot and mouth.

but i suppose they killed them BEFORE they buried/burned them ?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Sorry to disappoint. I promise, the next scientific article I read about scum, I will post it... Actually I haven't posted any scientific articles in a long time.

I can't help but put a cultural angle on this (you can ignore it if you like). Found this on the news:

I'm not gonna buy that Samsung TV anymore.

That's horrific. It's the way that they were transporting them, with diggers, as though they aren't living things.

I can understand culling animals when there is an ourbreak of a disease, but there are certain limits of treatment. I know if was diagnosed with a deadly extremely contagious disease and was expected to have my life taken from me as a result, I would at least want my death to be comfortable. That would be the absolute minimum I would expect.

Those poor elephants, Fucking monkeys....The human race is becoming fucked up..

makes my blood boil seeing that elephant  footage

why would you be horrible to all the animals you are looking after, doesn't make sense to me

poor piggys screaming

thats the trouble with mass farming and profit over everything

nature will wash us away and start again

Well the owner doesn't appear to be in on it at least not from the video. But it is hard to believe they could have had that romanian working for them for so long and not have noticed anything. I hope a severe fine is passed down to the owner and that the worker faces criminal charges.

Also I wouldn't mind the Government seizing the elephant and letting it live out the rest of its days in a nice zoo exhibit paid for by the owner. That would be the best out come.

However I agree with the owner sending the elephant to a reserve in America could kill or do serious harm to the elephant. So I think a zoo exhibit might be best.

:( It makes me always so sad and angry that animals are being abused... They don't have a voice and in many cases they can't even defend themselves. How can humans be so cruel! I thought we all had a brain and a heart... Maybe some humans are just pure monsters.

I haven't watched the video, btw, it would break my heart. Just reading this makes me upset.
