There are no big release this time.

Last week PS3 sold more because Dynasty Warriors 7... now 25-30k is normal for PS3 in Japan.

So? The Wii had no releases and that remained pretty much identical to last week. It may not be great, but its constant.

The PS3 won't have a release every week. I'm not saying it's doing bad, far from it! But it can't just ride successful launches every week. It needs to have long-term sellers, and now that GT5 is fading, another is needed.

Same for all systems really, aside from DS

What?

PS3 normal week: 25k
PS3 release week: > 30k

So that's a normal week for PS3... holding 25k is GREAT not AMAZING.

Just 3DS outsold PS3.

Wii 9k??? How can it drop more? No way... so flat.

as i also expected.  i wanted to callout those calling for ps3 sales in the 10k range as being ridiculous but i didn't want to sound like too much of a jackass.

i mean really, not to downplay the earthquake but the reality is a majority of japan wasn't effected at all directly...

True, it's not bad, especially in the circumstances. I'm just saying that soon, PS3 will drop off more sharply and will need another massive game, GT5 or FF scale. Aside from FFVersus, I can't see any system-sellers on the horizon...

Wii is more desperate. SS can't come soon enough, but DQX is more desperately needed. Not enough games for me ATM.

360 is dead anyway. No game can change that long-term...

We shall see in the coming weeks how the PS3 will hold up and if the Wii can recover. But the PS3 could easily thrash the Wii this year in Japan by having a massive game over Wii. I dunno what it is

better than I expected

Early Nintendo projections for 3DS were around 1.5 million units shipped before fiscal year ending March 31.

2 weeks before that date the 3DS has sold 742,244 units so it will end up selling around 850,000 units when the fiscal year ends.

Honestly it's been a very disappointing launch, fortunately it will be easy to turn things around but Nintendo made amateur mistakes, the biggest their launch game Nintendogs cats. A game with a very tired formula and on top of it its predecessor underperformed in Japan regarding Western sales.

was that japan or WW cause the 3DS launches in the states march 27th which should post at least a half million that week.  can't remember when the euro launch, is that coming before the fiscal year as well?

Wii is dead in terms of support. Inazuma Eleven has been pushed back once again to make the game more "family friendly" according to Level 5, who didn't give a concrete release date. April is once again empty for the Wii with only Earth Seeker coming out as a semi decent release (most likrly won't reach 100k lifetime). And May has no games announced either.

Looks like sub-5k is not out of the realm of possibilities for the Wii.

PS3 has had 3 of their March big sellers pushed back due to the earthquakes to "TBA" release dates. Including Yakuza: Of the End, Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 and Dynasty Warriors Troy. So sales will stabilize at 25-20k instead of 30k and above. This means that the later part of the year will be more packed for the PS3.
