Forums - Nintendo - Why the mixed messages on release dates for 3DS games?

I'm puzzled the 3DS launches on Sunday here in Canada. I was waiting to see the release dates for software in the coming months. I wanted to know which games I'd be saving for and which ones I would ignore. Usually when its this close to a consoles release, dates for software for the first few months are announced.

But no official dates to my knowledge other then launch titles. I look for dates for Nintendo's several titles and don't see any. Legend Of Zelda:Ocarina Of Time was announced as a spring title for Japan. But it's spring right now and no official date for US release or even to my knowledge Japanese release.

I myself am desperatly wanting to buy LOZ:OoT, Animal Crossing , StarFox, MarioKart, Kid Icarus. But no dates have been announced. Infact even many third party titles release dates have not been announced.

So earlier this year when I watched the Nintendo press conference in Europe. The Nintendo Rep for NOE said that the following games would be availible by June 2011. Then a video played showing all of my anticipated titles. Later on Nintendo confirms that not all those titles will launch by the end of June.

So if their not coming by the end of June when are they coming? The console launches sunday and I still don't know which games are coming April, May , June.

Why do you think Nintendo is holding back release dates, why did Nintendo lead people to believe all those titles were coming for June then announce their release dates are TBA. Why the secrecy?

Nintendo tend not to give dates when they're not sure.

Yah I know for games coming out in summer or such. But what about April its days away and we have no idea what is coming. LOZ:OoT was announced in Japan for Spring, well it is Spring and we still don't have a date. I'm not suprised we don't know any release dates for after E3 because Nintendo would announce all of those at E3. But come on we should at least know whats coming in April and/or May. Even if we just got all the third party release dates for those two months.

Or will nintendo Blitzcrieg E3. The day of their press conference "Umm Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Paper Mario , Animal Crossing, StarFox are all on store shelves today" a move like Microsoft pulled at E3 2010 with the Slim 360. Such a move would totally send the masses rushing into stores.

But seriously you'd think we'd know at least which games are coming out in the next month!

no date means no conflict in buying launch games... though it could also make people hold of in hope.

manuel is still right, they probably just don't know.  i'd guess there are a lot of business decisions being made in regards to the software.  nintendo is going to prioritize the holiday season to make sure they do strong there probably with the expectation that many people will buy the 3DS with or without software at first.

so, in my conspiracy theory, there are probably delays in software that aren't announced yet nintendo expected for later this year that are now causing nintendo to thin out the launch games to make sure there isn't any long lull between releases.

The tsunami messed with a few. I know for a fact Tecmo's releases were indefinitely delayed by it in Japan, and that would probably impact their worldwide dates as well

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Until an actual date is release, I don't take any seriously

It's cause you are in Canada. :P

Man Nintendo and screwing us Canadians Eh?

In all seriousness however Nintendo Of Canada usually launches all their games on the same days as NOA. With StarFox:Assualt having actually launched in Canada first. I remember picking up my copy a few days before it was availible in the US.
