Do people really feel that singleplayer is gettin tossed out for multi/online nowadays? It really seems like the opposite.
Now more than ever, so many devs are trying to raise the bar on graphics and that "cinematic experience". I feel that these are really what's killing the singleplayer experience nowadays. Good graphics don't make themselves - next time you play a game with stunning visuals, keep in mind that it took time and manpower to acheive all of it. That takes away time that could've been used on creating a solid singleplayer experience.
Besides that, there's only a very few amount of games that even have a multiplayer portion worth playing. I can't help but feel that multiplayer in most games just ends up being tacked on as a last minute thing. Uncharted 2 for example: the multi felt so lacking in some areas and had obvious issues that needed to be fixed. No one really complained though - people mostly bought Uncharted 2 for the campaign. Notice how KZ3's online gets so much more attention/complaints - it shows that there's a large userbase buying it for the multi.
I see people in this thread making lists of good singleplayer games this gen but, if people were to make a list of GOOD QUALITY multiplayer games this gen, I guarantee you that it wouldn't be nearly as big...
