Final Fantasy X
And Deus Ex

And then there's Other's I don't like as much but are great.
Like basically every other FF and MGS
And Dead Space is my favorite new series
followed by Mass Effect (particularly 2).

still lots of good single player games...

Zelda WW and FFVI are IMO the 2 greatest games ever created and they are single player

Best single-player experiences:

1. Deus Ex

2. Metal Gear Solid 4

3.Valkyria Cronicles

4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

5. InFamous

Actuallu I'll put Ultima 8 instead of inFamous. Just remembered of that one.

The first Bioshock is certainly up there but I agree with Alan Wake as the first by a country mile

Battlefield: Bad company 1's single player was great, most levels were huge, and I just loved it. Metroid prime was another great one, and also the super mario bros games.

I am surprised that it is still popular got me some comics yesterday and I felt like I was back in the 80's Early nineties because some of those new comics were Ghostbusters and G.I.Joe..

Whilst single player seems to have taken a back seat to multiplayer in FPS', there are plenty of games with good single player experiences this gen:

  • Mass Effect series
  • Uncharted series
  • Half-Life 2
  • Portal
  • God of War III
  • Elders Scrolls
  • Fallout
  • Bioshock
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Zelda
  • Metroid Prime
  • Dragon Age
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Assassins Creed series
  • The Witcher
  • Starcraft 2
There are also some potentially great single player titles comming out in the next two years like Deus Ex Human Revolution (prequel to Deus Ex which is highly regarded as one of the best SP games ever made), Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Last Guardian, Skyrim, The Witcher 2 and Duke Nukem Forever.

I like the AC series alot and I like choclates.

I think he developed the game himself ....

Do people really feel that singleplayer is gettin tossed out for multi/online nowadays? It really seems like the opposite.

Now more than ever, so many devs are trying to raise the bar on graphics and that "cinematic experience". I feel that these are really what's killing the singleplayer experience nowadays. Good graphics don't make themselves - next time you play a game with stunning visuals, keep in mind that it took time and manpower to acheive all of it. That takes away time that could've been used on creating a solid singleplayer experience.

Besides that, there's only a very few amount of games that even have a multiplayer portion worth playing. I can't help but feel that multiplayer in most games just ends up being tacked on as a last minute thing. Uncharted 2 for example:  the multi felt so lacking in some areas and had obvious issues that needed to be fixed. No one really complained though - people mostly bought Uncharted 2 for the campaign. Notice how KZ3's online gets so much more attention/complaints - it shows that there's a large userbase buying it for the multi.

I see people in this thread making lists of good singleplayer games this gen but, if people were to make a list of GOOD QUALITY multiplayer games this gen, I guarantee you that it wouldn't be nearly as big...
