Crytek dropped the ball on the PC graphics...backwards after 3-4 years? wow...

And the game is far more linear, as well.  No more large enemy compounds you can approach from any angle.

From the official Crysis 2 thread on gaf:

*Win Picture*

Hilarious, sadly accurate. It' sa massive step back from the original's PC graphics, and coupled with a linear generic "Call of Duty" design with suit powers, it's a pretty big letdown. Great achievement in console graphics.... for what little that's worth to those of us who didn't care to get it on consoles anyway.

Really? COD design?

COD would be lucky to let you walk 10 feet right and left either side. LOL

From what the vids show, it's more Halo Reach size ( Or a bit bigger ) in level design rather than the COD type design.

COD is a bit of a stretch, but I don't know what you're seeing that makes you think this isn't incredibly linear. I've played it at both E3 last year and GDC this year, and trust me, this is no Crysis. Halo: Reach is very linear too, but this is even moreso. Understand that even if it were the size of Reach, the design of Reach is very linear. You rarely have more than one way to approach any situation.

See, in the first Crysis you'd come into an area with an enemy base and you could completely choose how you assaulted that base. Angle, stealthiness, hop the wall, break the front door. All 360 degrees around that base were available to you. In Crysis 2, you come into a clearing, and there are things to fight, and that's it. That's how it works.

Making a slightly more wide-open space than COD is not an accomplishment, nor does it change that the design is linear, when you're limited to a linear approach. Yes, you can stealth, but it's still just suit powers thrown into a Point A to Point B straight line shooter. You're not going to be able to come up with clever plans and traps for your enemies.

This an interesting review. It is based on the 360 version, and they had all 3 versions available to make comparisons. They gave it a 90/100.

  • PS3 and 360 are not as far apart as IGN says
  • 360 is superior to PS3 version
  • CryEngine 3 does not use the PS3's additional processing architecture (I assume SPUs)
  • PC version is far better than either console
  • PC uses DirectX 9
  • Crysis Warhead has better graphics on max PC settings
  • Best 3D solution of any game to date, better solution than Sony 3D

CryEngine 3 does not use the PS3's additional processing architecture (I assume SPUs)

no surprise there, and it answers the second bullet if true

Come on Internet. Internet is the day of instant access.

People are already buying the bloody game in US right now. Wheres the bloody reviews.

Media has been able to upload it for over 9 hours now. FFS.

COME ON.

This game is freaking awesome, and I didn't like the first one. It took me 10 hours to finish it and for those comparing it to COD, It is nothing like COD. The scale, how you approach each level.  It's a game on its own league. Crytek deserves a lot of merit for being capable pull off something of this caliber on consoles... the level of detail is insane!!!

No score (which I prefer), but interesting nonetheless.

What? I read 8.5/10.

Guys I meant actual reviews. Of like the 50 reviewers I actually know of.

The game already out and no reviews... what a hell is this?

I had the chance to pick up the game from my dealer today for $50 ($110 Retail) and I skipped it (bought Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom instead), mainly because barely any reviews from the more trust worthy sites have come up. Hopefully he has more in stock next week, but EA are pretty much trying to convince me to not buy the game. A crummy demo and a ridiculous embargo is going to put a lot of people off.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

All mention how fun the single player is and how technically sound the visuals are (albeit with slight issues like texture pop in and glitchy AI). None sound like deal breakers and I'm headed to get the game here in a bit!

How did you get that about visuals from those reviews?????

The last says move over Killzone 3. ( Albeit translation is washy. )

The 2nd said although he knows nothing about FPS etc, Crysis 2 etched out many moments which his retinas will never forget.

To me, any review counts (look through any of my Official Review threads), so I figured I'd post what reviews are available. I do think it's a little annoying how none of the more known sites have put anything up. Perhaps they are trying to keep the suspense hot!

Yep. It's killing me. And being a UK gamer I have to wait till 25th. :(((((((((((((
