Joelcool7 said: Is the PlayStation2 over rated? No I don't think it is, Sony however is over rated. Everyone always gives Sony credit for creating the PS2. However Sony has as much credit for creating the PS2 as Nintendo does. I mean other then the hardware itself Sony isn't responsable for any of the PS2's success. Third parties built the PS2 not Sony. It wasn't Sony's games that pushed the 10-million mark with one or two exceptions. It was GTA, Final Fantasy , MetalGearSolid that pushed the PS2. It was the DVD movies that pushed the PS2. Sony had very little to do with the PS2's success! I mean the console was cheapest to develope on and third parties launched what like 20x the amount of games that Sony themselves did. Even today PS2 is selling but not because Sony is any good but because their is a large third party library of games. Sony is being put to the test right now. Can Sony stand on its own two legs without the third party exclusives. No the PS3 is bombing horribly! Sony is the most over rated monopoly in the world! Is the GameCube under rated? Yes it is, the GameCube has a library of AAA-class. I for one own 32-First party Nintendo games and about a dozen third party games. The GameCube has far more value then many notice! |
See but I think Sony's first party titles beat the crap out of Nintendos >_>, also if Nintendo's crazy ass policy on 3rd parties wasn't so shoddy, the N64 and Gamecube would have been much higher on the success scale, I personally think AS A CONSOLE, the game cube was a piece and a half, the damn thing didn't even play DVD's... 1.5g's of data on a CD? WTF?!?, and don't even get me started on their memory card set-up. As a console, all it did was play video games. Not enough functionality in my book >_> I want my cosole to be bursting from the seems with usefullness and in that regard the Gamecube can suck it.
Your right, Sony does have to thank it's third party support, but it's also something that Sony's always focused on, Ninty knows the majority of the games sold on it's system are first party. Nintendo has LEGIONS of fans that buy up whatever their most recent installment of x game is without hesitation. Sony has some great first party titles, but the fact that they RELY on third party is also a major plus, it keeps the new I.P.'s flowing, and brings an insane ammount of diversity. I don't mean to insult the wii or the gamecube, but when it came down to looking for mature titles... the ratio between Sony and Nintendo was horridly skewed. If I'm looking for fun, simple, commical party games I go to a Nintendo platform (yes I know it has "hardcore" games too but I'd never go to Nintendo for those).
Also I'm not so sure if I'd say the PS3 IS OMG UBAR FAILZ HARDCORE HAHAHAHAa. Definately underwhelming compared to it's previous generations, but failing? Shoulden't we wait for the next gen to start before we start putting eggs in any basket?
