Because american media is always very friendly and un-biased when it comes to Russia, Middle East and overall countries eastern of Poland...

Fox News>>>> Evil comies

and when was the last time you saw an american station say "people of russia! rise up and overthrow your dictator"  or "russia needs a good dozen airport bombings every other year or so...just to keep them on their toes"

The American media loves to imply the former, i would think, and villainize the Russian government in many cases (remember the beginning of the 2008 South Ossetia war? It took a damn long time for the media to acknowledge that that whole affair was Georgia's fault)

Not as extreme as RT, obviously, but the bias is noticeably present.

how the hell is it georgias fault?  russia trying to ethnically cleanse the area and annex the territory...encouraging the violent seperatist groups to attack georiga...then the groups violating a truce.   georgia retaliating against aggression hardly places the blame on them.

and there is no need to imply anything when you state facts about how corrupt almost all levels of the russian government are.

The South Ossetian provisional government, backed by Russia, backed out of negotiations with Georgia when Georgia decided that they were no longer going to recognize that government and then install a puppet Ossetian regime in Tbilisi of all places, right under Saakashvili's eye. It was Saakashvili's intransigience on the matter that started the violence between Georgian security forces and the South Ossetian armed forces

Georgia was just moving in for the kill at that point, and are quite lucky that the EU managed to convince Russia to not employ a "Gulf War II" style solution on Georgia

"i dont like what your saying so im going to shoot you in the face and its your fault."

i like how you dont even try to deny russias ethnic cleansing or that they are inciting the fighting and still argue that its georgias fault.

Any particular fears of ethnic cleansing were on the part of the South Ossetians when the Georgians started rolling in, unless we've been studying completely opposite accounts of the war

Who actually started the fighting is unclear between Georgia or the South Ossetians, but it was largely an effort of Georgia continuously applying pressure on the Ossetians until the final fear of the whole situation devolving into ethnic cleansing was what prompted the Russians to intervene (along with the more materially substantial benefits for Russia fighting)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

russia already had been ethnically cleansing the territories...during their "peacekeeping"... and whole ethnic georgian villages were destroyed by them and their "allies" while "defending" themselves from the "evil" georgians.

I never ran across this in the extensive study of the background to the 08 conflict that i did, though i could have been looking in the wrong places.

no problem, i accept your apology.

I too have never heard of that. Could you post a link or two? I understand Russia occupied some territory and created a bit of a buffer zone, but hadn't heard of A) ethnic cleansing or B) destryoing whole villages.

this thread is about RT being shit.  if people wish to discuss the russian oppression and annexation of georgian territory please do so from the proper thread

btw...i have an HRW report of ethnic cleansing of ethnic georgian villages in south osseta during the conflict sitting in front of me ready to post a link to if the conversation does move over there.

i was watching some al jazeera the other day on the tv...just to have a look at it...i found it to be surprisingly fair.  i was actually expecting something similar to what i found on the russian channel.

Anyone who does not like RT, should not even look in the mirror. Distorting mirror, perhaps, but the same can be said about FoxNews from the other side, which never ceased to amaze me their ability to say with a straight face that "white is black and black is white", or how aggressively they attack anyone who dares to say "oh, not it's not entirely black it's slightly greyish". Long story short, OP is like pot calls the kettle black.

This is an information warfare. Good, that someone mentioned Georgian-South Ossetian conflicn, which is a typical recent example of this kind of warfare: every report started with "Russia invaded..." before infamous interview on FoxNews of ossetian girl with her mother when first doubts were raised, Reuters published staged photos of actors, who pretended to be victims of war (photos can be identified as staged only when they are seen together, but they were never shown together), media showed a ruined city of Tskhinvali after Georgian attack but claimed it to be a city of Gori destroyed by Russian bombers, there were ridiculous claims regarding amount of refugees more than actual number of citizens in fact (talk about yellow press) or ethnic cleansing of Georgians.

The results of this war I see here, not that long time ago I had an argument with some guy from VGC (forgot his nickname) who hand an opinion on every damn detail of that conflict (mostly repeating mainstream media position), but at the same time managed to misspell the word "Georgia" few times in a row. Ignorance is a bliss indeed. Don't get fooled, get information from multiple sources, few different lies may eventually give you a hint on where truth is.

Independent mass media is an oxymoron, it's like prostitution - a position depends on the current client.

Al Jazeera HQ is placed in Qatar and controlled by Saudi, closest US ally on Middle East and financial center that fund world terrorism hoax. Their position on key problems is never in confrontation with official US position, so it's no surprise you find them 'fair'. But I expect this to change in the future considering recent events on Middle East, it seems US are abandoning it's allies here. Infamous 'triangle' of US foreign politics in the region Egypt-Israel-Saudi Arabia is falling apart now, Saudi are in permanent conflict with the rest of Islamic world and mainly Iran.
