1. I used to be opposed to it unless something extraordinary happened. Now I'm easier to sway to a lynch but I still start in the No Lynch camp.
2. ANY? Yeah, there are certain very unusual cases. But in general, NO WAY.
3. I think someone already put it best: "Hate 'em." They're a prime lynch target whenever we don't have great suspects, and a good nightkill target ALWAYS.

^ Vigilante, mafia, SK, whatever. It's never a bad idea to kill a lurker, all else being equal.

why would I lie as mafia? besides the obvious "are you mafia" question, lying as mafia is the best way to slip up.
However, as a townie, you have to actively look for mafia, thus some lies are necessary, unless you have a power role (and besides 1 doc and 1 roleblocker, I never had these)
I find it ironic that you of all people are surprised by this. You lie all the time with your vote. We have Fos, HoS and Vote, the latter meaning that you are pretty convinced that the person is mafia and would be fine with the day ending with them lynched, yet you typically vote for 3-4 persons every day, giving the town false information and in the mean time confusing your image in order to be less readable. Now you'll argue that this is not lying per say, but it spreads just as much if not more confusion on the town.

dsister said: Well then. 1. I think they are necessary. With a day 1 lynch you gain a lot of info going into day 2 and you also give a little support for night actions. As you might be a little suspicious of someone or something 2. Liars get in the way. If you catch a townie that is lying than you are going to spend a lot of time going over what they lied about and why. So with a combination of that and number one I can easily say Vote: Hephaestos 3. Hate 'em. on vgc it is easy to tell if someone is lurking or not though. If they are spamming other threads then they are obviously not wanting to post |
Then you just lied. In 1 you say you get information from day 1 lynch. As is should your vote be followed there would be no information and thus your vote cannot be a combination of 1 and 2. Moreover where your process fails is that your vote logic assumes that i'm a townie prone to lie and thus your willingness to vote for me... a townie. This is evident as you believe only mafia should lie, but then if I were mafia, why would I answer positively to that question? you clearly did not presume I was mafia as you speciffically said that your vote was motivated by your answer 2, wich was all about townie.
By asking "do you lie as a townie" you knew that'll get some honnest answers and that you'll be able to use these as your day 1 targets. You followed last game and saw that some townies lied (notably proff). Moreover, you're using your answer to question 1 as a justification to launch vendettas on day one (your first approach being "liars", but it'll serve you also for later vendettas... such as lurkers, your question 3.
Basically your 3 questions is this
1) I will push for lynch day one
2) please answer yes so that I can vote for you.
3) if that fails i'll push a lurker lynch to be sure to get my blood fix
Lastly, you gave yourself up. A true townie would ask "what do you think of lynching liars" ,such as your question 3 , a mafia on the other hand does try to find reasons to legitimately lynch townies.

You talk a lot about how Final-Fan lies with his vote (though I don't agree with your interpretation of his voting pattern) but you left out what kind of lie you would be likely to use as a townie looking for scum. Are you talking about traps like prof's "Did you figure out Wonk was the doctor?" ploy?

Look at it this way. I push a lynch on you people start suspecting me, people defend you, people bandwagon on you with little evidence. Tonight it gives the power roles a large crowd of people to suspect instead of guessing randomly from the people that went an voted no lynch. Tomorrow it gives so much more than the average "So what did the powerroles get?".
Yes, a lying townie just gets in the way. Not only does it lead to mass confusion and possibly a lynch later down the line when we catch you, but it gives the mafia the ability to go back and say "Look, this scum is lying!". Lurkers and liars just get in the way in the later game, and should be taken care of... I rather get rid of the liabilities sooner then later

No, I asked "Do you think it's ok under any circumstances for a townie to lie?". I was never asking if people themselves lied as townies. You gave that info up yourself. Those questions were to gauge people's positions on those key points. I really never expected someone to come up and say "I'm a lying townie!"
Have you not seen me play before? For the last 5 games or so I've been really keen on first day lynches and lynching lurkers.

1. Yep, I will, again I was just gauging where people stood on these questions. If a lot of people said not to the first one. Instead of going through the same tired arguements I go through everytime I would've given up. Seems people are willing to listen to reason this game :)
2.A couple people said it wasn't their favorite thing, but it was ok in certain circumstances. You obviously just misread the question >__>
3. I think my stance on lurkers is well known in these games. Whether I'm town or mafia I really dislike people who slowdown the game
Again, I think you misread my question...

Exactly, I left it out, i'm not doing to say how I lie if I ever do.
It'd make it easier for scum to avoid and harder for me to both get info and use it.
The only reason I talked a lot about FF's vote is because he requests that I change my game "Hephaestos are you going to promise you've turned over a new leaf? " and wanted to point out that to me some aspects of his game are enoying too. If we're all to follow the same formated style of play, this game wouldn't be much fun ^^, unless you really prefer robot style.

I don't think a person's playstyle can be summarized by "Do you lie as town or not?". You're jumping to conclusions here.
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions" that's what comes to mind when I'm thinking about a lying townie. They start out with the best intentions (I'm gonna find scum!) but inevitably it ends up costing the town big time whether it's a mislynch or just a huge waste of time.
