Dude, if you want a Wii wait it out. I purchased a PS 3 and all it does is collect dust. My 360 and Wii get more playing time then my PS3.

Here are my systems in rank of time spent playing:

1. XB360

2. Wii

3  PS2

4. XBOX (hacked to holy hell)

5. PS3

It does. You can put any 2,5" HDD in. It can be bigger, faster (standard PS3 HDD 5400) or both. You won't lose your warrenty. Be awere 40 gb sku cell is smaller (65 nm), it consumes less energy (120 W/h instead 200 W/h) and cooling system generates less noise. 60/80 gb sku looks a bit nicer because of silver finish.

40 gb is a lot of space. Go with this model if you don't care about PS2 compatibility.

why dont u want to purchase an Xbox360 Arcade ?

I m not gonna say the offer is better or worse, but, at least, it is in the same range of price ?

(I would also buy a PS3 but I thought Wii shortage would help Xbox360 arcade since their are both cheaper)

Thing is I think the X360 is unreliable, and I'm very interested in MGS4 and FF13.

Besides I don't wanna pay for online play.

 Well, could you buy a raincheck? Could you actually contact the stores to time shipments and get up early one weekend? Assuming demand is at most triple supply, even just turning up at stores should get you a Wii in the first few attepts.
