How can PS3 sell so much? What is driving its sales? (dont say it was KZ3 cos that's not a sistem seller).

It's not one thing, it's a culmination of things (which yes, DO include Killzone 3). Perhaps you forgot about the US Bundle as well.

Obviously it's a lot of factors lol.

But why is it so close to X360 who has huge success Kinect? (nothing against Move but it's much smaller than Kinect right now)

I mean, Sony has no price cut and yet it's up more than 10% YoY!

I mean, PS3 has better games than X360 IMO, so IMO it's a very good and logical choice for a gamer, but like we all know X360 is very strong in USA. 125K is not a big difference.

Obviously I'm very concerned about these sales.

Good job MS.

It's just that simple.

KZ3 bundles are probably accountable for about an eight of those sales, which is impressive, otherwise it'd probably be about ~350k, 100k below Wii, also don't forget some of the promotions that big retailers are offering, $50 off etc.

But the way I see it... Even if there are physically 50,000 Killzone 3 bundles it doesnt mean that the boost from KZ3 is anywhere near 50,000 consoles.

I mean, if I was a guy looking into buying a PS3, obviously I would pick a good bundle instead of a non-bundle if the price difference is much smaller than the price of the full game. But that doesn't mean I wouldnt buy a PS3 at all that month if there was no such bundle.

Potential buyer and those impulsed into buying are different though, if you had a phat PS3 and thought about buying a PS3 but decided not to, this would seem like a smashing deal considering you effectively get $60 off with the game included. Bundles sell, and those who just want to buy a PS3 and don't really care whether it's bundled or not buy it anyway, I think I see what angle you're coming from in regards to this though.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Then why'd you ask?

lol I dunno

I wanted someone to list the factors and make a plausbile explanation, expeically compared to the X360.

The essential qerestion is how can PS3 keep up with X360 so well in NA despite the momentum the Xbox has and Kinect?

one thing i dont understand, it seems that month for month xbox outsells ps3, but when the year totals come out, ps3 outsells the xbox.

Of course the Americas happen to the the Xbox 360's strongest market.  It also seems that Kinect appeals to the "Western" audience as well which gives the Xbox 360 boost in the Americas.  I really think Kinect was seriously needed to give the Xbox 360 a shot in the arm to sustain its current sale when you consider that the PS3 still outsells it worldwide.

That depends on your definition of "western". There are more more "westerners" in Europe than In NA (the main x360 stronghold far more so than the other americas)... but I "catch your drift".

I think  Sony may have "given up" on NA and consolidated on Europe. Beneath the surface they are doing a lot of  work in China and seem to have convinced the Chinese govermnent that there is a US$15bn gaming market there to be tapped in five years after a major launch. Maybe all this piracy news is part of it, I don't know.

If you can get the fastest growing economy in the world (and predicted to knock america of top spot in a few years) with the biggest population in the world you can't be on to a bad thing...even if the games sold there might be a bit..unusual.

When I say "westerns," I'm referring to cultural mentaility.

Not that Sony should be too worried, Move is doing better than they expected and it wasn't expected to beat out Kinect. But I still hand Microsoft more credit in the area of business, they took a gamble and it paid off in spades! It's kept the 360 healthy through Qtr. 1!

Come on now! If Move wasn't created to beat Kinect or to help them move consoles. Why even waste the money on developing, advertising, and selling it. Move is about as good as the original Power Pad when it comes to moving software, and hardware.

Just like hiring Marcus to sell PSP! Your just throwing away cash!

I personally see it as more of a momentum from Kinect and not so much the Xbox 360 itself.

Sony is profitting off of Move.  And who's to say that hardware sales would have resulted in the same if there wasn't Move?  Sony originally stated that they predict Move to be a slow burner while it has exceeded that, and Microsoft claimed that Kinect will be more successful than the Wii's launch while we can argue that it did.  Therefore, Move in general wasn't expected to "beat out" Kinect.
