It seems to me that the amount of death persons is rather small, considering the magnitude and the population of Japan. Either that, or there are lots and lots of unconfirmed deaths, which I hope is not true entirely.

What sucks is that Japanese will suffer more aftershocks, big ones of probably over 7.0, and these things last for over a year, we had one aftershock of the 8.8 that happened last year a few weeks ago that was 7.2 or something like that. |
Ya, I expect there to be a ton of aftershocks.
I wonder how badly shaken the ring of fire is now. Could be the start of some massively bad quakes and volcanic activity. I just hope the super volcano under Yellowstone doesn't go off because of all this, that will basically destroy the USA, Canada, Mexico, and others in this hemisphere.

Same here!

I think a volcano in Indonesia made eruption a few hours ago after the quake in japan, 2 volcanoes here in chile have made eruption in the last 2 years, I cant say if its a trend, maybe its just normal.
And the yellowstone volcano would be a catastrophic disaster, probably with apocaliptic type of results, so lets hope these 2 earthquakes in the last 2 years are the big thing for at least a few years more and we dont have that type of disaster in our lifetime.

I saw some of the footage. It looked unreal. My heart goes out to the people of Japan and I hope the casualties aren't very high. The footage makes me worry. I mean a damn broke and washed away 1800 homes. Cars being washed a way like nothing. It looks really bad. I just hope it looks worse than it actually is.
It find it funny that people are pretending to care on here.

Your profile says you are 39, I would expect someone your age knows what empathy is.
Now, Im not crying or anything, and I certainly dont feel personally sad, hell, some people could say a joke and deppending on it I could laugh, but consider there are people here from japan and wishing them good isnt pretending to care, talking about such big dissaster isnt pretending to care either.
This is an important event for the whole world after all, and considering the magnitude of this event is not strange that people in here care to a certain extent about whats happening, and its only human to wish people good when things like this happens.

Apparently they're having more trouble getting that one nuclear reactor down, and might need to vent...
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
LMAO you can't seriously be 39. Anyways, I'm not crying, but I don't feel good about people in another country dying to a natural disaster of this magnitude. Empathy, learn it.

I find his comment annyoing too but what annoys me more is the fact that the human nature or let's just say that the majority these days never seem to care about the suffering and the tragedies around us unless there is some big unusal event happens. Once it becomes the usual people stop caring.
Like the recent protests in Libya. The revolution doesn't seem to interest my friends anymore and it's becoming old news.
