Oh I should add that my GF's Daughters friends saw me playing a few and didnt want to try them. I think there is to much going on the screen in terms of enemy bullets making them afraid to try it out. I did get one of them to try out Sky Shark, but he quickly got upset with it.

I think a lot of has to do with people making so many games easier now a days. Back in the Day I would spent months trying to beat games with my step Brother sometimes never doing it. A good amount of todays game hold your hand a lot, so while they may be still hard to a lot of those younger people. It is what they expect and when you see some of these actually really hard games they feel they have no chance.
I could compare this to school to make myself look a little bad. A lot of my professors say they are going to do this or that to make life a little easier for us. But at the same time tell us how they had it. To be honest, I would actually like to know and grow through how hard it was for them having no net for papers, and having to do 50page papers. I dunno if I could do it being how easy I had in my early edu. Some cases easier may be better now, but later will haunt us.
I also had one professor say she did not care about format, or anything else except the content. I think that was really pushing it. As I have a friend who still needs a lot of help just to do a simple paper format. Even when using Noodle tools he still manages to mess up his reference page. I dont blame him I blame the USA school system. Did you know I did a total of one fomal paper up until I hit college. WTF. Was awesome at the time, but I had so much catching up to do, it hurt me a lot in the long run.
