So, I've finally got around to making a claim on my busted PS3 from my insurance, and once it comes through (I'm 90% sure it will be successful), I will be looking at purchasing another PS3. Now, being the tight bastard that I am, I've been looking to try and get the PS3 as cheap as possible, so I've been looking into importing.

It's about £30 less than you can typically find it online... and it's also in silver, which looks sleek as (as an aside, will we be seeing a sales boost from this badboy?)... figured I'd be willing to pay a £20 premium for the colour... which means that I don't want shipping to go over £50 for the import.

Anybody imported before, specifically from HK to UK? How much does shipping usually come up to?

Assuming shipment costs might end up outweighing the benefits, plus I never truly trusts products from HK. 

Why not? I get gear from HK quite frequently... difference is, my dad usually picks it up for me. Hong Kong is one of the most developed regions in the world... it's like not trusting products from Luxembourg!

Eh, I typically get products from Hong Kong, and Singapore, but I am never confident about purchases in products above $100. Honestly this would apply for shipping from anywhere that isn't Canada, USA, and England.

I'd be more worried about the potential import taxes you'll almost definately have to pay which will cancel out any saving and then some.

Haha, yes, I read that, but I was asking about the actual shipping costs, as in, the cost of putting the thing on a boat/plane and then driving it up to my door. (Also, VAT is up to 20%, now >_>... fucking UK)

Hmm. Make an account than add it to your cart then go along with it till it gives you a shipping price, perhaps? I just did it a couple days ago for a few DS games on Renchi. Just to get a price check on the shipping

Yeah, I tried that earlier, but it didn't work. I think it's because the unit has yet to be released, so they don't have weight/size data.

Try it with this one? Same model just a different color. Should at least give you a good estimate
