Forums - Microsoft - Introversion: “It’s unlikely that we’ll work with Microsoft again”

Mark Morris – the business mind behind Introversion – has declared at GDC that he doesnt believe the team would ever work alongside industrial giant Microsoft in the future.

“Do we regret working with Microsoft?” said Morris. “No, but it’s unlikely we’ll work with them again … they make you work harder on the production value, but they don’t back it up with sales.”

Referring to the Xbox Live Arcade ports of Darwinia and Multiwinia, Morris remarked: “XBLA were good to us and put us in the deal of the week, but it had no impact. Steam promotion was an order of magnitude better.”

Ouch Team meat and now these guys, indies are really starting to turn on Microsoft, it's weired because XBLA used to be praised by indies. I wonder what happened behind the scenes, or whether other platforms have just got a lot better in recent years.

PC is much better for them. I've read the article and Team Meat have mentioned that the PC sales of SMB were considerably higher than those on XBLA.

And wth are those games. If they're niche they can't expect them to sell by buckets, people are not as stupid as to buy anything, I've never heard anyone praise nor even mention those games.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

this one is because of the PC useage > Xbox360 useage for this game imo

The TeamMeat guy looked like  he was just bitching. He says there wasnt enough promotion but in Australian Xbox360 servers at least it was freaking everywhere.

I disagree about the Team Meat guys, it isn't that they didn't feel like they got enough promotion, but they didn't get the promotion they were told they would.  Big difference in my mind.

I thought it was more fighting tooth and nail to get the promotions that they got and were told they were going to get. MS made it hard instad of easy.

you might be right, I'm not sure if they got the promotions they were told they would in the end but I'm certain they had to fight tooth and nail like you said.

from what i read, the crux of the situation was they were told they would be the only game released that week to ensure great billing and instead two games were released and the other game got a larger push..

..i'm too lazy to look that up to double check this but that's what i remember reading.

I bought Darwinia and why anybody would be shocked that this game performed better on PC is beyond me. Not to mention that this game took years to come out. Whose fault is that Introversion? People making a mountain out of a molehill as usual.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Well we don't need you or Meat Boy.
