Save points sucked in So4 i haven't played it since i had to turn the game off as it was 2am already and i couldn't reach any nearby save point.

I'll return to it when i get some more time.

Because the story and characters are piss poor. Every character is annoying in their own way: their dialogue, their voice-overs or personality. Edge Maverick whines and overreacts; Lymle is annoying with her constant 'kay. Then you have this cat character who meows every ten seconds, and there's that angel girl who has the worst voice-over ever. Also, this game has weird animations; the characters look all stiff during the cutscenes.

The only decent thing about SO4 was the battle system, but you have to put with the annoying cameras, poor save points placement,etc.

Tri-Ace should just stick with Valkyrie Profile. SO has gone downhill after 2; Resonance of Fate had potential but it was underwhelming. If they add some variety in RoF2 and have an actual focus in the story, then it might be good.

I thought star ocean  was one of the best JRPG this gen. With out spoiling it for all the others KAY!

I have to agree with this. And i don't know why there is a save option when you open the menu. It is always disabled. Unfortunatelly sometimes you have to dash your way back to the last known save point, while avoiding fights. Aside form this i am really enjoying this game. Can't stop fighting, collecting items and doing sidequests. So much to do, so much to "put in the bag". :)

Star Ocean 4 is probably one of the best RPGs on home consoles this gen.

The only reason it is underappreciated is that people have become really pessimistic and cynical over RPGs this gen.

It is hard not to be bothered by so much negativity, but the game is very enjoyable with or without a popularity award.

Why have people become overly judgemental over rpg's this gen. Did the FPS make the RPG's less enjoyable or what? I just don't get it, it's a great game kay.
