For JRPG, FFXIII is not realy a standard to compare to since its just a very expensive emo rubbish, most JRPGs minus the Trinity something game would be better than it. Try Valkyria Chronicles, that should be the standard for a good JRPG.

I don't think we're going to get a game like Valkyria Chronicles again for a long time.  Not unless someone at Square gets off their ass and goes to Matsuno and be like "Make Final Fantasy Tactics 2/Tactics Ogre HD with the game engine from Valkyra Chronicles".  Hell the FMV cutscenes from Lions War is almost identical to Valkyria's style.  Valkyria Chronicles is the next step for strategy turn based RPGs and no one is capitalizing on it.

Valkyria is really very good. I played it and is on my list of best PS3 games. It was the first JSRPG that made me play until the end. I played with japanese VA too. Generally i can't stand anime not japanese dubbed.

Senjo no Valkyria( Valkyria Chronicles) is made by SEGA WOW not SQUARE-ENIX so they can't use the Game Engine

I agree I can't stand any Anime without Japanese Seiyu and all Japanese RPGs and any Japanese Games that have Original Japanese Seiyu should have the option for Japanese to.

I love Star Ocean 4 The Last Hope International just as much as all other Star Ocean Games and it is one of my favorite Japanese RPGs this Gen. TRI-ACE make some awesome Games I hope there next project is another Valkyrie Profile Game.

I hated it...  awful steroetypical characters and some piss poor voice acting in the UK version.

But I did start to play it right after I had finished the best JRPG this gen... Lost Odyssey so maybe I was comparing it to that?

nah, it was just awful plain and simple. Edge sucks balls, Remy sucks balls, Lymel sucks balls, hell, they all suck balls!

not to mention the voice acting isnt just piss poor but OMFGWTF CRAP!

and their ship? OMG! talk about fugly with zero imagination.

then there's the story that no matter how i look at it is just so lame that is so lame that its so lame. though ffxiii's story is also lame but i found SO4's story to be even lamer. LAME!

now i can live with the lameness of the story and the characters and the piss poor design as JRPGs are usually the same old thing recylced over and over again but this game is just not FUN at all! i play games to have fun and SO4 is to me NOT FUN!

I bought it after Christmas with my Gamestop gift card.  Before I go it, I did A LOT of research.  The good outweighed the bad and in the end, it came down to Star Ocean 4 or Tales of Vesparia.  I chose Star Ocean (wanted the PS3 version but could only find the 360 version).  I tried the tutorial and made it to the crash site and I was happy with the purchase.  I just got sidetracked with my platinum playthrough of Mass Effect 2 and a few other games so I put it on the back burner.  I know a good game when I play one, though and I know this is a good game that I'll definitely enjoy when I hit a dry spell.

lifeless animation, horrible voice acting, confused script, awkward lines, most skills are uninteresting and useless, unable to switch targets using buttons, painful camera, semi annoying dash, repetitive, asshole battle trophies, nerfed mages/ and sorta uncool.

some good moments, battles were pretty fun, music was pretty good, a lot of content, endings were good enough for me, anime art is so much better than the lifeless looking dolls.

What I want from a game.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

Friction! When everything feels right!

Did you press start button? If you want to switch targets you press start button on Star Ocean PS3 version.

thats why some may like it.

The Characters itself werent anything special (except Lymle :>) But the Plot was cool, Space is always a great location, and there were some Plottwists, that made me going 'Oh!'. On top, i've liked the post-game content, and the Battle System. Graphics werent special, but theyve worked well.

So well yes, i love SO4. (W. Jap. VA)

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

tried every button no luck
