@pacman  my bad i was being dramatic i know that Ninty owns the platform genre. but my point is this, can any WIi fan honestly look at the Wii library and say that there is a type of game on WII that could NOT be found on the HDs, im talking pure genres here?? i cant think of any, any one know please chime in. Do the HDs have types of games that simply have no equivalent on the Wii??? WRPGS for one. as for the motion tech, i agree to an extent but i would argue that there is some things the HDs motion tech can do that is not possible with Wiimote. the cameras add augmented reality so games like Eyepet & tumble cannot be done on WII, but RS2 can be done on Move (dont know about Kinect) we just need a dev brave enough to do so.

some one want to chime in on what these niche genres are??? cause im sure you can find something on the HDs, maybe not retail but definelty on PSN/Live thats where all the weird stuff goes

The wii has endless ocean, while pc will at some point will be releasing depth. Even then they're different games.

I'd venture to say excitebots is niche, but maybe more weird than anything.

Trauma series is extremely niche. Does PSN or Live have anything like that? Wario?

Tech in nice, but w/o implementation there's no point.  The Move can easily do Red Steel 2, but will it? Perhaps Ubi might make a multiplat in conjunction with wii or super wii. Tumble is a nice demo, but bash party is better(although tumble's greatest strength is boom blox's greatest weakness). Sony's mascot adventure looks like a demo.  Shoot, by the time Sony does anything, Skyward sword will be out, and ninty's next gen might be ready to come out.

Here's another thing. You talk about superior fps/tps/action games on PS360, while negating motion, platforming, and arguably a couple others to being a 'fix'. There are some people who would want superior motion usage, platforming, and debateably arcade racing and fighting while allowing fps to be a fix. If you want to take it to a further extreme....

PC does FPS, indie, and strategy better with a wide array of specs.

@lordtheknight whats ironic is that you say just cause i didnt see any but you still claim there were little Conduit ads, bull. There were TV ads in the US, google it. there were magazine ads, i know because they ran for about 3 months, i could pick 3 different mags that ran that ad, and ive seen billboards in NYC so there were ads. Wii has online support sure, not nearly as well implemented as the HDs.  FYI Bioshock had no tv ads and look how well that did, original mind you.

@pacman excitebots is a racing game, there are those on HDs maybe not as weird. Trauma series and Wario intersesting, ill get back to you on that because Wario as good as it is, is like a compilation of a bunch of smaller games. i think i saw some weird thing similiar on Live but im gonna check. ive never played bash party so cant comment.

I dont know where your getting fix from. I didnt use that phrase where talking about GE here and thats a FPS. i know not everyone is into FPSs like that. As for motion sure they would that, but like you said its all about implemation. Does it matter if it has motion or not if the game sucks??? no amount of motion tech will fix a poorly made game (looking at you MOHs for Wii) you pull PC out but the PC lacks in some genres as well (fighting being one) and im talking consoles

I didn't claim there were little, just not as large as a lot of the games on the other systems. Plus the ads themselves didn't really make the game compelling, the way that marketing for other FPS make sure to pique interest in the game.

As for online, I just wrote that there was some, not that the degree was as great as the others.

And you did not do your research, as it took me one search on youtube to find a TV spot for Bioshock. It's a damn impressive one, while The Conduit ads aren't bad, but still make it look generic.

Now if I gave the impression that marketing by itself is all that is needed, that was my mistake. The content of the ads matter, as the ads for this hypothetical situation would make sure to make the games look good. I want to smack heads at Take Two for making Chinatown Wars look like a visual novel spinoff, and blaming DS owners for not rushing out to buy the game.

Yeah, I might have been putting words in your mouth a bit. It's the conclusion I drew from you mentioning shatter and the HD variety(mainly 360). You can say the 360 has sonic & sega, blur and split/second but then I'll show you a superior Wii arcadish racing lineup.

Why do I bring up PC. In the west...… of people have computers at home/laptops? Valve games, Borderlands, and most indie games have reasonable spec requirements to play. Ironically it is the most makeshift, intimidating platform for many 'casuals'/new gamers, yet the easiest platform to start up.  If a wii owner is really dissatisfied with fps, tps, etc they can have excellent experiences on a pc with superior controls. Anyone in this situation need not worry about pc lapses, b/c the wii has those covered.  The PC and wii are completely different platforms, yet in harmony you have every genre covered with amazing games.

I think this harkens back to the age old truth in forums.  People have their preferences, and we're hardly going to agree exactly.  We're all going to bring in our preferneces and biases to discussions.

@pacman  see thats my thing though, opinions are completly subjective, you say that you can find a superior Wii arcade game than blur, split/second and sonic & sega, I would ask you to name them (not Mario Kart Wii, dont really care for that game) the thing is that ive played those games and no arcade racer on Wii even comes remotely close and ive had PS3 AND Wii for about 2 and a half years, but really if you think there are better i would love to know.

As for PC, thats all well and good but lets be real you have to update it at least every other year to get the optimal game experience. I have laptop about 2 years old and I cant run anything that came out recently. IMO thats the whole point of HD consoles I could play those PC games without having to shell out dough to optimize my laptop. You say PC and WIi are perfect harmony, id have to disagree fighting games are my fav franchise, and both those platforms are severly lacking in that dept. One has no true SF and the other you have to shell out damn near the cost of the game to even play the thing properly, but thats me. HD/Wii set up has all genres covered (minus MMOs, but luckily that is the only game genre I hate)

So just a milion or two more and it'll get close to what succesfull new IPs like Bioshock or Borderlands sold on X360/PS3 not counting PC sales.

Tryly amazing achievment for a game released on a console with highest userbase, being remake of one of legendary games for Nintendo faithfull and having connection to huge movie IP.

So we've gone from "hardcore games can't sell" to "hardcore games can't sell as much as on HD platforms."  Well, that's progress.

On a completely unrelated note, how's the HD Bond game doing?

It doesn't count. Seriously, I got some people trying to argue that it shouldn't count as a Wii "core" game outselling an HD one.

For arcade racing games I submit mariokart(yes I have reservations aswell), excitebots, and trackmania.  Trackmania games are always intense along with ample user created content.

I do realize some people aren't in love with Smash bros. Content is bountiful, gameplay is great, and multiplayer is top notch. Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a great fighter aswell. I guess neither has both a large userbase and good online.  That's all I really need, but for a fighting conisuer such as yourself perhaps that's not enough.

But hey, we can agree on mmo's!..Unless of course pokemon mmo ever comes.

Well no single fighting game has sold as well as Brawl, so Smash Bros does have a large userbase.

@pacman  see i didnt care for Mario Kart Wii, IMHO i felt that Ninty simplified the game to appease there new blue ocean audience, which makes sense. but for me the game felt alot less challenging and rewarding thats why i rather play MNR even with the load times. excitebots is great, but its not even close to as good as NFS HP or even split/second IMO. Trackmania is good, but imo these games have an HD equivalent thats just as good if not better IMHO. to each his own. Smash Bros content is bountiful but hte online is atrocious. why can i just only play 2 min. brawl?? I f***ing hate 2min brawl where are the options??? why is the online a ghost even though 8mil people bought it.  TvsC is a great game, i should know i have it but SSF4 and Mvs.C3 blow it out the water, online is actually pretty good. for fighting games the WIi alone cannot sustain me. I need the VFs, Tekkens and SCs. Pokemon MMO might be the ONLY MMO i play

@lordtheknight for the love of god Bloodstone and GE are two different games made by dif devs from different developers. thats like comparing SF4 to new carnival games and wondering why the latter flopped. now if you wanna compare it to an HD FPS that flopped your more than welcome too
