I am going on vacation in 2 days for and coming back in 5 days. I am not taking my modded PSP with me to play the usual emulators. I am also not taking my GP2X Wiz with me to do the same thing... I just loaded up my Windows Phone with games which should pe plenty to entertain me during the flight there and back.

Not saying that these handhelds will fail, but people have way more options these days when it comes to portable gaming. Some of us may decide to move on from the portable console idea since the phones are providing some pretty fun games.

Phones dont have buttons though.

Sux to play on a touch screen only.

If you come in with set game expectations, then cell phones suck with touch screens...if you come to play any fun game and play it as it is meant to be played, you will see that a lot of touch screen based games are pretty fun with the touch screen alone. They are designed to control properly with touch screen only.

But yeah, if you want to play street fighter on a touch screen...a button centric game...forget it.

I dont see how they are in trouble really. I know plenty of people that have smart phones and a DS and or PSP. Im one of those people. Can they dent the profits? Yea, diffently. Will they get rid of them?  Did the cheap and free online games get rid of home consoles? No.

I also have played side scrollers, side scroller shootemups and stuff  and still I felt like my fingers were in the way of the view. I didnt see nothing.

Also a handheld is cheaper than a smart phone.

Handheld is $250 for 3DS and $350 for PSP2 (my guess).

A smatphone is $450 for HTC or Xperia and $700 for iPhone.

Games like angry birds, Fruit ninja, Swipy man, Parachute Panic, Tiki towers... these are made for touch screen devices. These are the type of games you should play on a touch screen device.  Other stuff thats made for consoles and then ported on the itouch, android etc...with controller like controls...meh

Yeah that's what Im saying. Your options on a Phone is much more limited.

Most real gamers dont like Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja but they love Zelda and Uncharted.

i wasnt aware ipod touch and iphone actually had games. Oh wait they do have games just those cheap $2 games that no real gamer gives a s**t about. yea..ill stick to my handhelds thank you

Really? On the go and using portable devices gamers like to play Uncharted more than Angry birds? I don't know about that one...

Go on a bus or a train and look around, and let me know what people are playing more. PSP hardocre games, or casual games like angry birds.

This is what happens when you play "hardcore" games on the go...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukEFBly4UKE

@metallicube i wish more people could understand your statement, instead of just saying "this sux because I think it sux"
