Forums - Gaming - King's Quest III Redux

I stumbled on the King's Quest III Redux a few days and I was instantly hooked.  I remember trying and failing to play this game as a kid.  I never thought much of it because I could never kill the wizard.

I read the Destructoid Review and I had a few hours to kill so I gave it try.  I'm hooked now and I'm much further than I've ever been.  They really did a fantastic job on this one.  There were quite a few puzzles on this one that had me stumped for a good while and it's just a great feeling to figure things out on your own.

If you love classic adventure games, definitely give this one a try.

What does redux mean?

Brought back or restored.

I really don't know why they called it that...

Anyways, I actually finished it today and it was incredibly satisfying to finally finishing that game, especially without the use of a walk through.  I remember getting nowhere in the original version of the game and being incredibly frustrated but I actually make it through this one.  I did look for hints and spoilers to puzzles but the developers are actually incredibly stingy so I had to figure them out for myself (though I did have to look where to get acorns since I just couldn't see them on the screen).

Cool.

I was too dumb back when I played King's Quest 1 and 2, I hardly made any progress at all in them.

I completed Conquests of Camelot though. I would love a remake of that one.

Yes, these guys are great.

ADG Interactive (which is their company name for free Sierra On-Line remakes) aka Himalaya Studios (which is their company name for commercial own games) not only already remade King's Quest I, King's Quest II, the recently released King's Quest III and Quest For Glory II.

This week they also announced the development of their 2nd own game Mage's Initiation: Reign of Elements - they call it an graphic adventure RPG game, i.e. it will obviously be influenced by Quest For Glory.

I love it when people do this. I love the classics, played the remakes of Kings Quest 1 and 2.  Also the remake of Quest for Glory II. They did a great job on them.
