My b-day is coming up and I cant decide if I want to buy a 3DS or not. I basically want to buy the 3DS to play games like pokemon, paper mario, zelda, etc.

But then i also want to buy and NGP whenever it releases. Do you think it will come out this year in the U.S.?

Do you guys have any good motivations for buying a 3DS?

Also what color should i get? my mom said the aqua blue one sort of looked girly

And I'd get the black one, the blue one close up does look a little embarrassing in public (it's kind of...weird looking for a man to hold). If it's too expensive I'd try the Gamestop trade in the old DS thing

Well, NGP probably isn't coming this year out side of Japan so I'd say it's worth giving the 3DS a shot if you like some of its games. You can probably get NGP for your next birthday.

Maybe a little earlier. I remember that it was suggested that it's not gonna come out of Japan before 2012,  so at most you'll have to wait 2 months for it and you probably won't have to wait at all.

If you are interested in those games that you should get one without a doubt.  Given you like those series, I expect you to already have a DS, but if you don't remember that the 3DS is backwards compatable, meaning that you will also have access to nearly all the DS library.

NGP isn't going to release this year, so you have lots of time to save up even if you got the 3DS , besides its a freaking 3DS you can't go wrong.
