Forums - PC - I just got my a** whooped in starcraft II......

It's funny that I see this thread right above the "can I get a trial key" thread :P

I've never really gotten into Starcraft as I was into Age of Empires 2 at the time. I should probably look into it sometime.

Something i found very helpful against zerg is to build a planetary fortrss immeadately! The fortress will easily get rid of a said amount of zerglings.

Do NOT do this! You will lose an insane amount of economy compared to the standard 12rax 13gas 15orbital command.

I'd never played RTS before and within one week of buying it on a whim I was spending 2-3 hours a day on it including playing, posting on the TL forum, watching Day[9], listening to podcasts and watching tournament streams (which cost money).

Also my university grades suck now.

So if you want it to take over your life, go for it.

i'd suggest talking to snesboy. He's heavily into StarCraft, if I'm remembering correctly.

That's right. Wait. What are you stalking me?

Anyways, if you need any pointers with Protoss. Come to me. I'll be happy to kick your ass on US East. Err. Umm oops.

You're in europe right? Well, I can't play with you, but yeah, I can help you out.

If anyone with an EU account wants a game just PM me.

Pick a standard build order for the matchup leading to a clear midgame plan[1], then rely only on superior macro[2] to win. Don't ever take risks, use crazy strategies or hope to win by surprise. Choose when to tech or expand carefully and don't ever do both simultaneously.

[1] e.g. "At the 10min mark I want to be on two bases with a large marine-maurader-medivac army with 1 attack, stimpack and combat shield". Then add on structures throughout the early game to end up looking like that at that point. For example a way to reach the above might be "3 rax -> stim -> pressure opponent -> expand -> engineering bay, factory and 2 more rax -> combat shield and attack upgrades". But focus on the goal you want to reach, not the precise build order.

[2] I mean focus on constant worker production, constant use of mule/chrono/inject, constant supply building construction so you never get supply blocked, and constant production out of your unit-producing structures. Always have the correct number of unit producing structures your base can support. Expand whenever it is safe, i.e. you see your opponent isn't immediately going to attack. Tech towards your midgame plan whenever it is safe too. Always get upgrades.

Watch the Day[9] Daily. An absolute must. day9.blip.tv

What do you find yourself losing to?

(I'm a Gold Protoss with Terran experience)

The zerg keep killing my ass! I just need to play more lol. I am too slow and can't keep up.

Oh you big kidder you! Losing to a zerg! *chuckle* good one buddy, seriously what are you losing to? Terran? Protoss?

They come to fast lolololol...im pretty good now though. After playing the campaign a bit and all. (only 2 hours of trial left =[) Gotta buy it soon lol....this is bad, my ps3 trophy level is gonna die -_-

You're terran or protoss? Simply put, block your ramp and 50% of rush by zerg becomes useless, and by their they've lost massive amount of resource and have no economy, crush them in 15 minute.

If they go baneling then you need a bit more tactic, protoss can use forcefield to delay until you have enough force while terran needs to double wall the ramp to prevent baneling bust.

Rushing is one of the worst strategy for zerg as it is always all-in, protoss or terran has way better chance of recovery from a semi-commited rush while zerg will almost always fall so far behind that he might as well gg.

good luck and enjoy the game.
