The day all game consoles cost $400, let alone $800-$1000, is the day I quit gaming and stick with what I have.

Pacher obviously doesn't care for the gamers ith his predictions of high prices for EVERYTHING. It will only lead to more piracy and a great gaming crash.

I expect Nintendo to launch at $299 and Microsoft and Sony to offer at least two SKUs at launch, priced between $399 and $599. That's in US dollars. Man, Joelcool7, don't mix in Canadian stuff. That's making things unnecessarily confusing.

I think it is possible that Nintendo could release a system as high as $400 (or more) if they have something that could really justify that price ...

While it is entirely ludicrous to suggest this as a possibility for their next system (or any system for the foreseeable future) but if Nintendo had a workable "holographic display", or something similarly exciting, I doubt they would feel the need to keep the system’s price all that low.

In contrast, if Nintendo's next system is (essentially) a 'Wii HD' I would expect Nintendo to keep the price very reasonable.

hell no...i mean the highest price was PS3 with 599 and looking back this definatly was not the smartest thing to do...even Sony know this now and said that they learned from the high price of the PS3...

The more I watch Pach Attack the more I realise that he is a really intelligent guy with a good rational for most of his predictions. I'm sorry but what the OP claims he said is a complete fabrication. He never predicted that consoles would cost $800, he said that if the next set of consoles did something special they 'could' cost $800plus . It was a 'high end of the scale' of what they could cost figure.

Your right he says if they do something special. But what does he consider special? He was refering mainly to consoles. Of course the next generation of consoles are going to do something special. Notice he says a thousand dollar investment in a next generation console.

He is very clearly saying to expect next gen consoles to be 800-1,000$ or he would not have made those comments. What are you saying that the next generation will not be special? If the companies do not do something "Special" then they will fail. What are they going to do, re-release the same hardware.

Any improvement over this generation is something special. If he didn't mean what he was saying he would have said so. Yet on more then one occasion he says 800$ to 1,000$.

Right now the Canadian currency is worth pretty much the same as the US Currency. At the time of the elites launch the Canadian dollar was worth alittle less but not too much. So mentioning Canadian prices shouldn't be all that too confusing. Now if the US dollar takes a dive then I will have to try talking in American dollars. But right now at virtual parity I can get away with it....or can I?

THe 3DO was around US$799 in 1993 dude.

What is he thinking?! I'm thinking at MAX $600 but even that is a maaajor stretch. It seems more like $500 will be the max.

I don't expect any of the consoles to be over 500. I'm sure they all took note of what happened to SONY this gen.

yeah but still my point came across...i mean how the 3DO did?i can predict not good...so still for me its too high price for a console = fail/not doing that great...but thanks for adding that fact...i didnt knew that...thx

I think the $600 mark is the most believable. I think Pachter is always saying something extravagent to get people talking. What would you want a console to do for over $800. Pretty much everything. Doesn't the PS3 already do that? Ha Ha
