I have one question: do this milestone is only for the Gran Turismo 5 (original and Platinum) or is the combination of Gran Turismo 5 (original and Platinum) + Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition?
It's a great milestone, without doubt, but if the answer is the combination with the XL Edition, for me it's like take the number of Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 and consider like only one game. (situação análoga, no bom e velho português)

The XL version account per 430k units and the Academy Edition per 190k units.

8,570k are the standard release.

But I can't get your point because Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV are different games... Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 5 XL and Gran Turismo Academy Edition are the same... same game... same same data... same online.

My standard edition with patch and DLC = XL or Academy Edition.

Super Street Fighter IV is a new game.

Thanks for the answer!
It's my personal point of view, I'm a retro gamer and I never bought a DLC (and I think a lot of gamers are in the same bote).
So for ME is the same thing: + cars, + tracks = + characters + stages.
Prologue is one game; GT 5 (original in platinum) are another; and GT5 XL Edition and Academy are a different game. But, I agree in the essense is the same game.

Two new/old prediction.

"I Believe GT5 Will Outsell Halo: Reach Lifetime. And You?"
"I Believe GT5 Will Be The Second Best Selling GT Ever. And You?"

I said it when GT5 was launched and a lot of others times in this forum... GT5 will be the the second best selling GT in the history (>11,600k).

I never changed that predictions too.

I can see these sales comming...

End of 2012: 9,500
End of 2013: 10,600
End of 2014: 11,300
End of 2015: 11,700
End of 2016: 12,000

I'm pretty confident if PS3 continue to sell the GT5 is to continue too... ~20% of new PS3 owners buy GT5.

It looks like GT5 sales on VGC could need an adjustment up, but maybe it's too early to do it reliably, with the Xmas season still going to start and the necessary built up supplies to be taken into account.

Every game have extra edition like Greatest Hits, GOTY, Spec, etc but just after the downloaded content (PS3, 360, etc) these version have the latest version of the game with DLCs.

GT5 = GT5 XL = GT5 AE = GT5 Spec II (the name in Japan).

My GT5 copy have the same content than GT5 XL... it's not another game.
