Forums - Microsoft - OMG!!! evidence of Killer Instinct 3 from Rare!!!

I'd like to back up Mr. Stickball on Kameo and Viva.  I really enjoyed Kameo and played it right through to the end.  It is a great looking game considering it was a launch title.

Viva is also a great game, and both my daughters love it and still play it.  The game is very addictive once you give it a bit of time.

PDZ I also played 'til the end because there wasn't much for FPS out on the 360 in the early days.  The single player was definitly not impressive.  But multi-player was enjoyable, esp the flying stuff.  It filled a nice hole in the early 360 time while we waited for the good stuff (which took a heck of a lot longer to develop) to get out.

Of course now PDZ looks pretty bad when you compare it to other shooters (Bioshock, Halo, TF2, Gears, etc.).

My 360 can blog!

Gamers have 3 choices this generation: The Exercise Machine, the Movie Machine, or the Game Machine.  What kind of gamer are you?

Fighting games are bleh :P

Viva would be one of my first purchases if I got a 360. It looks really great.

As for KI, I never played it. But considering it was an old 2D fighter, it'd be virtually impossible to tell what another KI game would be like. We wouldn't even know if it would be 2D or 3D. Ok... It'd probably be 3D, but we still don't know anything else about it.

Right now any such rumours should be nothing more than a glimmer of hope for old Killer Instinct fans.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Rare has so many potentially awesome IPs that seem to get ignored. Blast Corps. would be amazing with this gens technology, I hope that IP gets considered. And why have they not even considered making another Battletoads?

Rare and Square Enix are two developers that I used to be able to buy a title sight unseen and know that it would be of the utmost quality. What happened? I mean I want a KI3 but I don't think Rare has the ability to pull the game off properly.

Any Square Enix credibility was lost forever way back in 2000 when they came out with... DA BOUNCA!!!!!! That game sucked hard.

What are the chances of the Killer Instinct games showing up on Nintendo's Virual Console feature to Xbox 360 Marketplace?

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

PDZ sucked as a single player game, but I do agree that it filled a void. The fact that you could play against bots in a 16 player team, or single deathmatch was pretty awesome for me. Definately average in terms of a shooter, but the MP was alright to solid.

The *issue* with Rare is that instead of reviving their actually good franchises (Goldeneye, KI, BlastCorps, ect), they haven't made a whole lot of redux of these great games.

One can only wonder what a next-gen KI would be like. For those that don't remember KI: It was (atleast to me, when it came out), a next-gen mortal combat. It almost invented the whole combo system (I dont think it did), but allowed for insane combos instead of bloody fatalities....All in that glorious rendering that was featured in Donkey Kong Country.

And others have said: a new XBLA/VC Blast Corps would be much needed, and fantastic. They did this with JetPac Refuelled. Hopefully they get more of their team on other such things.

MS has a gem with Rare, but I don't think they have the ability to churn out franchises like they used to - not because of talent (Kameo was a great first-gen platformer, VP was, as I've said, great), but time constraints, and developers. I just wonder if MS is properly funding them to create the games that they definately have the potential to.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'm going to agree with most people, that it really isn't the same rare. That's why I call them the "new" rare. The Goldeneye team created Free Radical, and we saw how amazing Timesplitters were. The genius behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, Martin Hollis, formed Zoonami, where he is currently working on some Wii project. Don't know if its a full game or wiiware titles, but he is working on one.

Most of the other parts have left as well, and even the founders are gone now. I mean it isn't the same Rare. I was very disappointed in Perfect Dark Zero despite not a bad multiplayer. And Kameo just didn't feel completely finished. Maybe because it was a launch title. Maybe due to all the delays over the years.

Viva Pinata was creative and cute, yet kinda disturbing haha. But this new rare just doesn't no how to make it's companies old properties, and really I wish they'd stick to new IPs, cause Viva Pinata was there really good title.

But that doesn't stop me from wanting BK3, but I fear for it at the same time.
