Nobody's doing any homebrew for it, too.

Geohot released it to the public in late Dec, or Jan(<-- I know that's when he released 3.55)? There is already quite a bit of homebrew

Wow, I'm so happy I bought a ps3 just so I can play Super Nintendo games....

Hey, I know people who bought PSP's just so they can play SNES games.  You'd be surprised... besides,  it's irrelevent how much it factored into the purchase... as long as someone wants to do it with their product they have every right too, even if it was only a 1% reason they own the console.

If anyone should be sueing him... it's Nintendo!

Not to be captain obvious but if you really wanted to play nintendo games...perhaps maybe you should buy a nintendo console...? To me, It's like getting a cat and asking "why the fuck won't you bark?!"

If you are smart enough to mess with your machine, you are smart enough to read the box and realise what it's meant to do. Seriously, what's the deal with wanting to force things to do more than their set parametres?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Because when many bought their PS3s they did have the ability to play those games.

None, because nothing is popular aside from signing some malicious code. People don't exactly buy their PS3's for SNES/Gen games, it's simply a nice addition for 1% of the buyers.

And 4 PS2's? Your bad luck :P

Also some games on Play-Asia =/= all

And how exactly is letting that 1% have their fun going to ruin your experience?

People on this site have been clamoring for Tales, ACER, and a few others to get released here. I'm sure they wouldn't mind spending the extra money to be able to play them

Aw, in no way beside the other "hacking" community hacking the shit out of popular games. And as for the J-game lovers, check the wide internet. While 99% of them are available for import, they go "where can I download X because I don't want to bother getting an import copy" SNESOrama is a prime example.

Yeah, because hacking your console is so much easier than hooking up your PC to your TV. What are you even talking about? Did you try either? Because I tried both. Solder shit like with gen6 and some gen7 items, or simple VGA or HDMI connection instead? Exploits or simply connecting?

Hacking is only good with room for benefit. There is NONE here. Self-rationalizing? I don't really get the definition, English is my 3rd language.

From what I've read upgrading to Geohot's firmware is as easy as saving the file to a USB then booting it in your PS3. Then you get all the homebrew along with Linux, without even having the temptation of playing back-ups. You can download all the new firmwares, Sony keeps selling you games and doesn't have to waste money on the bandwith it costs for you to download ofw, and you don't have to lug around a heavy PC. Everyone wins :)

Lol. Look at your last couple of arguments, I'm not sure whether you're even serious. The tough part comes with circuimventing all the means Sony uses against CFW.

... -____-

Again, I am talking of Geohot and his CFW which doesn't have back-up support. I get you don't like pirates but the only reason I can see why you want Sony to put Geo in more or less financial death is, because  you don't like his personality.

aka it was its set parameters until someone decided that wasn't enough, so we go back to the original question-

So you don't need to have both a Nintendo and PS3 underneath your TV?

That's like asking why you would want your cellphone to allow you to text, use GPS, receive pages, play games and surf the internet.

So you can have 1 phone instead of 12 different devices... and more importantly, becuase the phone CAN do those things.

Why WOULDN'T you want to enable something you own to be able to do everything it can instead of a set limit of items decided on by a company.  I mean, you never know when something might come in handy.

If someone gave you the choice between two identical products at identical prices, but one of them had a bunch more features... you don't see why people would choose to go with the second option?

... Do you really still think it was Geohot's fault that OtherOS was removed? I mean really, in Feb of 2010 he came out with a video showing how he had hacked the PS3. Sony's response was ok, we don't like it but whatever.

March 2! Sony made a statement along the lines of we will not remove support from Linux.

April 1: They remove Linux.

Sony decided to remove linux. The geohot threat was there on March 2 when they released that statement. They didn't remove it because of him

More then likely Sony removed it because as many people continue to say without any actual proof that less then 1% actually use Linux on the PS3. And it was costing a fortune to continually update it

That's just my take, but the timeframe clearly points to Linux not being removed because of Geohot
