Forums - Sony - The sad thing about The Last Guardian

2 million is guaranteed. They've worked on this game for how many years now, four? The quality is going to be incredible. And it has so much respect already and media is lifting it sky high (you can't find it outside a top 10 most anticipated games in any serious magazine or website).

And there are still no game like it. One would think the artsier developers would mimic the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus concept but no, ICO games are still one of a kind in this generation.
(don't bring up niche games like Journey now, or Lost in Shadow or whatever, I'm talking big budget games with 3D rendered graphics)

Has a good chance at 2.5 million. I predict over 2.5 million lifetime. Metascore 93-94%.

I somewhat agree with the OP though. It's such a fantastic creation that you'd wish much higher sales, just like Demon's Souls, Alan Wake and other gems deserve to sell 3 million plus.

I dont know what qualifies as a success for Team Ico tbh. 0.5mil, 1mil, 2mil in sales. i'm guessing Sony dont expect more than 1 mil for this, so i think anything over 1.5mil or 2mil is very successful.

...however i wouldnt write it off just yet, Sony might decide to market the game - and word of mouth will be very strong because of the stuido's reputation.

and i'm a bit pissed we've been waiting so long - i hope its not pushed into 2012 because of the other exclusives coming this year, which i think is a high possibility considering we know nothing about next years line up, only this year.

ive not played ico or sotc but ive herd a lot of good things about them and it looks like most the people who bought those games will also buy this. furthermore theres a lot of hype behind this and if review scores a good i think it will get to 1.5m easily and crawl to about 2.5-3m.

the ps3 userbase will also be larger, especially if the expected price drop comes.

SPOILER ALERT!

the end of the story happens when the boy and the creature are put in a dilemma, they must act in a certain way to either save either their own life or the others' life however they do not know the other is in the same situation. they both try and save each other and so, on their final breaths they are reunited to see each other die. very sad *tears*

but we'll still enjoy it,won't we

and get to play ico and sotc again, getting to play SOTC again is good enough news for anyone

TLC will most likely sell just about the same as SOTC, but everybody has to understand the TEAM ICO Games appeal to a nice audience always have done always will do that is just the way it is.

Japanese Pop Culture Otaku

You never know, Japan might suprise you on this one.  Though, for some reason, I have a feeling that the ICO HD Collection may end up outselling TLG.

a TLG at E3 can hype the game and make it sell around 2 mil.
