You are right, all credit card details are there for everyone to see. Don't let anyone see it.

I guess if someone gets their CC stolen through CFW Sony can now add that to the list of complains against those hackers they are currently sueing.
They developed tools enabling the stealing of people's confidential information....
And yeah by the way their little speech about Sony's way encrypting data is kinda funny.
How do you think your credit card data is encrypted when you purchase something online from a browser on a PC ?
Exactly the same way, SSL over HTTPS....
Nothing more or less............
Makes you wonder if the dude that wrote the articles are not little script kiddies themselves......
The information gathered over PSN is no differant to the information gathered over the internet on your PC or any other device thats connected online that can be hacked. Where hackers exist then so does fraud.

Why is that you do not trust HTTPS from PS3, but you trust it with the same CA for 360 and Wii? It is also likely that SONY uses a CA like Verisign which is a common choice among high profile companies and banks. I know that HTTPS isn't perfect but can you imagine the chaos if SONY tried to get PS3 users to use IPsec... (which is nightmare to setup outside of point to point connections)

So you're going to dump your crap PC tomorrow because it's using CAs and HTTPS when you pay online too ? ( not mentionning that your PC is more likely to be running a trojan than your PS3...)
PS : Do you even understand that for someone to be able to steal your CC on your PS3 the way the hacker describes it you would first have to install a CFW developed by the person trying to steal your information ?
If you do that you probably deserve this to happen and I actually hope some douchebags trying to play pirated games has this happen to him, he doesn't deserve any less.
And secondly this is no different from installing a random executable whose source you don't know on your PC and then have its security being compromised...
The summary of this stupid article should have been :
Flash news : if you install software whose source you do not trust, you can compromise the security of your machine...
Sheesh, that's kinda very very old news...

pfft, if someone was stupid enough to hack my PC, again, they will end up like the last ones. I will get on my other AIM account, pay my questionable contact a few bucks and wait till I hear how the guy was arrested for child pornography or had every piece of private data from his SSN to his bank account to his CC numbers released to the public. And typically his services are dirty cheap for me since he used to host my anime download site on his private server.

I think I just figured it all out!
So you know how some people say they can download things from the PSN at lightning speeds and others say it's slow as a snail? It all must be due to the TV they own! If Sony sees you're staying the Sony family, you get full bandwidth!
Damnit, why did I have to buy a Samsung TV!? :-p

There isn't even a single case I can think of where someone got someones credit card via psn, isn't that proof? |
So you're saying there's not a first time for everything then?
I'm not saying everyone should be super paranoid. Keep your PS3 clean and you'll probably fine, but sticking your fingers in your ear and yelling NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANEVER BEEN HACKEDANANANANANANANANANANANANA isn't a good idea either.

No, what is really going to cause the PSN to grind to a halt? OK, the general internet completely will basically stop since so many companies have failed from what I can tell from reports. The end of IPv4 since most ISPs have failed to transition to IPv6.
