Forums - Sales - UK PS3 Chartz: Uncharted takes top spot

Saying that bunny hopping isn't inteligent (in a game like UT3) sounds like the kid in Counter-Strike calling everybody a noob even though he has the lowest score.

Sure everything what's needed to survive, but for me it drains some of the fun from the shooter seeing everyone hop like mad, maybe they should have added some optional fatigue penalty or something like that to make this feel a bit more realistic. Just imagine if Guerrilla modified Killzone 2 by changing the Helghast troopers into hoppping bunnies.....

Some games do have a fatigue penalty. In Counter-Strike for example, you slow down when you jump and if you hop like crazy, you'll pretty much just be hopping in one spot. Like I said, a game such as UT3 or TFC/TF2 has a bunny hopping mechanic to the gameplay.

Uncharted deserves to sell well. I've finished in Hard and then Crushing and got all the 1000 medal points. It's fun to play as Elena, Cartoon Drake and Doughnut Drake. Man Doughnut Drake looks like a ball when he rolls forward, freaking funny stuff.

This games as the best unlockables :)

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

This was necessary to fix a flawed physics mechanic in the engine.  The 'bunny hop' technique was a method of moving *very* quickly in quake engine based games, including Counter-Strike, where the player could accelerate during a jump if s/he turned in the same direction as a strafe.  Deceleration was avoided by timing jumps just right.

The fix (band aid) was to immediately decrease the speed of a player landing, but with well timed jumps and proper technique I've seen people at least mitigate the fix sufficiently to bunny hop about as fast as you normally move.

I know, but that was a while ago and it's not the case anymore. Hence, why I mentioned it. Still, what's it going to do other than speed you up? The main argument is that it makes you harder to hit, which in Counter-Strike it mainly depends on the person shooting.

The game is doing very well here in the Netherlands as well, it takes to top spot in the PS3 bestseller section at Media Markt, yesterday when I went to the local Media Markt store they were out of copies and the fresh two pallets of 60 PS3s from the day before more than halved! Much quicker sales than the XBox 360 pallets which may have shrunk by only a few units.
